Residents of the SCAQMD, which includes all of Orange County, and the urban portions of Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties, suffer from the worst air quality in the nation. The SCAQMD application provides the public with air quality data and other useful information. The application features the following sections:

•Air Quality – Provides real-time and forecasted air quality data, searchable by city, ZIP or your current location within the South Coast Basin
•News – Provides information on air quality news, podcast, and options to sign-up for air quality alerts.
•Events – Lists air quality events including Governing Board meetings, Hearing Board calendar, committee meetings, conferences, town hall meetings, and workshops.
•Alternative Fuel – Provides locations, directions and details on alternative fueling stations (i.e. -natural gas, hydrogen, electric and propane) within the South Coast Basin.
•Smoking Vehicles – Provides an opportunity to report smoking vehicles and other air quality problems by email or phone.

SCAQMD is the largest air District in the country and is responsible for cleaning our air and protecting air quality for approximately 17 million people living in an area of over 10,000 square miles.

What a horrible piece of crap

If you change the location from Diamond Bar to say Los Angeles it bombs over and over again, you obviously need help developing a useful application that helps residents in Southern California.

Developer Response

Hi Patrick, we’re sorry for the poor experience with the application. We did update the app and fix the bug with changing your location. In addition, we are working on a completely new application which will be coming in the next few months. We hope you try the new version and continue to provide feedback.

Limited info

Cumbersome login

I’ve been looking at aqmd’s website every day to see the air quality listed as a value from 0-500. This app does not display a numeric value or a map of affected areas.

Poorly done app

They should have waited to release this app until it was ready. It doesn't let you zoom in or out on the map, it doesn't let you move the map around, it has a very unintuitive interface, and it doesn't even auto-detect your current location. Very minimal usefulness. Go back to the drawing board with this one.
