Create unbelievable NEW EFFECTS and SHARE them with others!
"After having played with the app for one full day, I’m nothing short of impressed. The sheer power of customization that aremaC (yes, it is Camera written in reverse) brings to photo editing presets, and that, too, to a mobile device, makes it worthy of being your instant favorite."
— Aatif Khan, addictivetips.com
"Whether you like simple photography apps where you can add cool filters and effects with a tap, or whether you like to create your own with professional-level tools and share your presets with the community, there is something for everyone in aremaC."
— Karen Freeman, appadvice.com
"aremaC is an extremely comprehensive camera app, which pleases the fans of effects with a huge library of filters and the ability to create your own with a toolkit of exceptional power."
Create real-time effects by stacking and nesting effects with arbitrary masks together! Real-time means you can see the result BEFORE you take the photo. You can even shoot videos with them!
You can create absolutely NEW EFFECTS with aremaC and upload them to the online library to share them with all other users!
▷Advanced and endless possibilities
-professional, fully parameterized real-time effects
-take photos AND record videos with all effects!
-open online library, which everybody can freely extend!
-full-resolution processing (If you take a photo, it gets automatically rendered in full-resolution in the background and you can instantly continue shooting more photos without having to wait for the rendering to finish! As the high-quality rendering is happening on the CPU, but the real-time view is fully computed on the GPU, there's absolutely no performance drop while a photo is rendered in background!)
-full EXIF and GPS-data storage
-edit your photos (yes, this app is perhaps even the greatest photo-editor on the app-store!)
EXCLUSIVE: Another special feature - A BUTTON, which lowers the camera's exposure for FULLY AUTOMATIC OVER-EXPOSURE PREVENTION! This app is the only one on the app-store which has it!
▷As a preset developer
Upload your creations to the online library and see how popular they become!
A huge line-up of basic, elementary and partially NEW filters that pleases even the best versed photography/tech savvy:
-Black and White
-Chroma Key (EXCLUSIVE: Do high-quality real-time green-screen effects with this highly tweakable filter!)
-Color to Y
-Mask only (Use any mask-composition, including custom photos, as image source!)
-Matrix (EXCLUSIVE: Fully controllable linear transform of RGB-colors)
-Random-Map (NEW: Random mapping of colors)
There are also many fully interactive and parameterized mask-generators:
-Photo (Inject your own pictures into effects as masks or sources!)
-Preset Image (A lot of preset images are already included)
Also all presets, effects, effect-groups and masks supports cut, copy and paste. The main goal, when designing these features, was: Let the user's creativity be the limit - not the app!
What's New in Version 2.2.1
-bugfix: App doesn't crash anymore when camera-access not enabled
The Most Unique Photo App In the App Store!
As mentioned before, I'd love to see an update that includes some sort of organization option for all of the filters - better yet - a way to separate the un-uploaded filters I've created from those of others' filters I've downloaded. Once or twice, I've uploaded filters by accident that were either already uploaded, or not mine! It's also frustrating to complete a filter and have it rejected due to its size. I wish each step had its size somehow added beside it, in order to know what is taking up the largest space...
The learning curve is as large or as small as you want it to be (if you want to create your own filters, it's quite large (3 years now and I'm still learning), but it's easy to simply download filters from other users)!
Truly a unique app - probably the most unique camera app in the App Store by a long shot.
Still hoping for an update!
I still stand by my review, (see below) but...
1. I hope the dev. Has some ideas in motion to creat a less cumbersome interface, (the buttons are too small and you can't organize your filters in any fashion!
2. The most annoying issue of late is a bug that disallows the user to switch the camera view (self portrait mode), as it immediately crashes the entire app when you try! This is consistent with all three devices I've attempted to use this function with!!!
I hope this app is maintained and updated regularly, it would be such a waste for the developers to simply put it on a back burner... !
This app has potential to revolutionize iphoneography to another level!
I've learned invaluable skills by being able to create my own filters, and even better, they can be uploaded and shared via aremaC's social/peer-to-peer type network online, with comments and ratings similar to photo sharing sites without any bells and whistles like IG or Flickr share apps.
This app is the greatest find for me since Hipstamatic on my iPhone3, but it does feel kind of like a "beta" app with its interface (especially the iPhone when taking photos, due to the buttons being so small and close together:
❗ I hit the "?" Instead of the shoot button at least 20% of the time)!
The somewhat clumsy and bare-bones interface is the only area that needs work, but the concept alone is worth WAY more than the price!
Couple UI needs:
❗ Live view - bigger, better buttons for reviewing, shooting, up,lading, etc.
❗ Out of control filters! I love the 50+ filters I've accrued via other users and my own creations, but I'm constantly overwhelmed with my incomplete and side-line "experimental" works in progress, filters that I haven't even tried yet!
❗ There's so many things to scroll through, separating the live view (time distortions) filters from the others, in order to be able to use the paint-onto-photo option which won't allow you to shoot the in-app camera with this function on (this is a big annoyance due to theses filters not being distinguished from the others, which means the app creates a pop-up warning when you hit the camera button and you miss your shot)❗
Its also a pain to go back and forth, so i usually only paint my filter selectively on my pre-shot library edits...
🙏 Basically, there are a lot of minor annoyances that I just overlook in hopes of future updates. This app is so revolutionary in its concept and core function, that these things that normally would be much more major for me, become minor considering what the dev has created in a broad sense. There's NOTHING in the App Store that is even close to providing what this app provides in originality, creativity (and education for me) in filter sharing (you can make your own filters that are private too, and the formulas are iTunes accessible...
I could write a thesis on this apps potential as well as a longer list of its more superficial flaws, but the preceding covers most of my kudos and complaints that are more important for me.
This app is difficult to review because of its unique qualities... It needs its own category!! :)
*** they've also recently created a forum I have not had a chance to check out yet online!
High quality app
Plenty of filters to choose from that will turn any photo into art, made by a talented and creative community that obviously enjoy what they do. Hats off to you folks.
New review - No longer saves photos to my library, rendering it pretty much useless. None of the dev's apps seem to have been updated in quite some time, so I guess it's abandonware...
Yes, this app is fantastic. So many possibilities. I appreciate his tutorials, you can feel that the developer love what he does and we'll see more upgrades with more good stuff. I'll contribute to his work by buying any other app that the developer have to offer. I checked the reviews of 3 stars or less and the majority of them sort of complain about how good it's the app., saying that it's too advance for them. I'll advice people to watch the video tutorials and learn good tips such as shortcuts and ways to see the potential of the App. Yes, it's advance but it's also simple. My level isn't advance however for me learning from the tutorials is a good way to use what I learn as a base for exploration with very good results.
