Good system. Been using for about 18 months.
After about a year and a half of use, this system, overall, has worked well. We have an Arlo Go, and Arlo cameras at more than one property. There were some occasional temporary glitches throughout the past year and a half. However, there have been no recent glitches (in something like the last 6 months at least). The app is convenient to use. The batteries (non-rechargeable) in the Arlo cameras last us about 5-6 months unless there is heavy usage (a lot of traffic at the camera locations) in which case the batteries seem to last about 2-3 months. The battery (rechargeable) in the Arlo Go seems to last about 6 weeks. This includes some use of the microphone as well as some use of the alarm (in our situation, to scare away unwanted critters). For us, it is very important to have a stable system that can be remotely operated reliably. Although there were some temporary glitches (software updates, maybe, and some other issues which required in-person access to the system), recently (for about the past 6 months or more) the system has been very stable and reliable and we are very happy with the cameras and the service provided. We would definitely recommend buying and using this system.
Drains your phone battery and the batteries on the camera’s drain faster than advised. (Arlo pro)
Not really “wireless” when you have to keep your phone plugged in and are constantly taking the cameras down to recharge them. Might as get a wired system that records 24/7, just not from the big box stores.
Also, there’s lag before it pics up motion. It’ll pick up a vehicle that’s driven by my house, but not the one that pulls in my driveway. I had to buy the mounting brackets to get the IR off of the walls, extra expense I didn’t expect.
Overall video quality is close to analog and that’s what disappointments me the most. I’m used to wired, professional systems, so I am more critical than most. If u just want to make use you’re doors are closed, you pets are safe, and the mailman I leaving packages like he is supposed to than this is the system for you. For the price I like it better than the competitors where u still need a power cord. Forget about 24/7 recordings even with the pro2, the cost is astronomical!!!!!
There are some bugs...
When I first got the system I couldn’t rave about it enough. High def pics, ease of set up and use, etc. Then approximately 366 days later (after the warranty expired!) a couple of the cameras started to hue pink. They no longer were color images nor were they black and white. They were black and pink. Arlo Rep said they would replace them for free - if they were still under warranty, which they weren’t, which meant I was SOL. I really have no use for cloud storage (unless I actually get broken into) so I usually delete the recordings of me or my family entering the house immediately after viewing them. Except I can’t now because the latest iPad update eliminated the <DELETE> button!?!? I can still delete them with my iPhone but not my iPad. What’s up with that? And let’s not get into the short battery life which is usually only about 1.5 months and I only arm the cameras maybe twice a month for an afternoon or evening! Maybe the newer models are better but the ones I bought about a year and a half ago are not aging well!!
