Read Faster. Work Harder. Be Smarter.
So much potential ~ but for now doesn’t live up to more than novelty
I really want to like this app! And it’s a fun novelty app @ .99 (thus 3 stars) - It will open Project Gutenberg ePub books
BUT as you’ve been warned a few times before it will not open ePub that you’ve created (Pages or Calibre). For that reason it’s useless for me working a Master’s degree pgm needing to speed read items converted from PDF to ePub. I’ve attempted converstion to ePub from PDFs & from HTML (not DRM locked files) I just cannot get it to work (same files will open in iBooks on my iPad & MacBook). Same as others, I get TOC on left panel but nothing in the reading window.
I've e-mail the support site & received nothing in reply. NOTE: app release date 17 April 2014 ~ visiting webpage & blog 2014 are last entries - Therefore sumize it’s an abandonded project. <sigh> sad because it held great promise ~
Not Awesome, But Could Be Worth A Few Bucks If Sold If...
I’d be willing to buy this program if it gave the user flexibility in it’s preferences.
1. The Shimmer (is centered) and Underline is on a single character that smoothly glides through the text. - That’s a strain on my eyes and I wish I could widen it up to 10 characters.
2. The Fade (from the unread material being black and change to grey) and Embolden (unread is grey and change to black) was a nice approach too. - but the preference could adjust the shade of gray, or changing the color altogether. A bonus would be to change shades of color and from regular to bold font, or visa-versa.
3. You’re not able to restart unless you import, or paste, the material back. Otherwise, you’ll infuriously be clicking back line by line. - a “Back to Beginning” and “Top of Paragraph" buttons would be nice.
4. Awesome if somebody could get an e-reader to work on PDFs. - Be worth a few bucks more then.
Great product, makes reading articles from the internet must easier (no ads) and the cursor keeps me focused at my spot on the page. If I need to stop and do something else, I can just pause it and then pick up where I left off when I am ready. Also, ART Reader lets me know how long it will take me to finish an article. This is great! I love it and will use it all the time! I am excited to use ART Reader to track my progress to read faster!
