Create a personalized yoga practice accompanied by your own music!

Asanamix Yoga is a new concept in personal yoga practice created to allow for the ultimate in personalization. You might think of it as a "modular yoga kit" that you can use to create the exact type of practice you need when you’re away from your favorite class.

Our first review says it best:
"This is the best yoga app I have used. It is definitely not for beginners, as it does not provide any visuals of the poses and requires some familiarity with yoga. I really like that the app provides you with a few practice sessions and also gives you the ability to customize your own practice by building your own sequence of poses (and you can include your own music selections as well). It is well worth the download fee. I used the app for the first time today and expect to continue using it regularly. The pacing was just right for me as an intermediate level yogi." (5 stars)

Asanamix Yoga includes nearly two hours of unique yoga audio modules that can be arranged as you like and combined with music from your own library. It also includes a “custom relaxation” feature that allows you to create a guided meditation that is timed to music you select. The yoga guidance is provided by Ariel Albani, a certified yoga instructor.

With Asanamix Yoga you can:
use the two included playlists for a well rounded one hour yoga practice
download additional playlists from Asanamix
make your own sequences from scratch
add your own music as a backdrop for your practice
- edit playlists to create a longer or shorter practice
- vary the intensity of your practice
- select favorite asanas or sequences
- target areas you want to challenge
- avoid injured or overworked areas
- bring variety to your personal practice!

Please note that Asanamix Yoga is not for beginners. It does not include any instruction on yoga or the included postures. You should be familiar with yoga and common asanas before using Asanamix. Also note that Asanamix is no substitute for a great yoga class with a talented instructor. It is meant to help experienced yogis and yoginis “fill in” when they can’t make it to the class of their choice.

Nice app, could use a bit more polish

Asanamix Yoga does exactly what it says - gives you the opportunity to take any of a series of pre-canned sequences (some as short as one asana, some with a half-dozen or so) and assemble them in the order of your choosing, with the background music of your preference. As the description states, this app assumes you are familiar with yoga asanas and do not need basic descriptions of them, even in written form, which I find unfortunate, as it makes this app less appealing to a wide audience. There are no photos to accompany the sequences, which I think would be beneficial for anyone.

My main complaint is that the audio quality of the voice guidance is rather muddy (music quality, especially from your own selections is as good as through the iPod app). I also generally use my iPad in landscape mode, but this app is configured only for portrait mode, which many iPad covers don't support (literally).

It's my hope that the developers will add more sequences over time (either in updates or via downloads), including some more for beginner to intermediate yogis and yoginis, but this is a good start.

Relative to some of the other, most popular yoga apps for iPad, some of which are half the price and more polished, Asanamix Yoga seems a bit overpriced - I'd recommend picking it up on sale if you can.
