Voted as one of the two “best apps for domestic violence prevention” last year, the Aspire News App is a potentially life-saving app that allows victims of abuse to call for help at the touch of a button. The app contains summaries of top stories in world, sports, and entertainment news.
Additionally, if someone you know is in an abusive relationship – or if that someone is you – the Help section of the application contains resources for victims of domestic violence.
Please Note: This app does not serve as a replacement for emergency services – in any situation where you feel that you may be at risk, please dial 911 or your local emergency number.
Ratings and Reviews
The idea is awesome. However, as someone who is in a verbal abusive relationship the app will get me in trouble. Here’s the thing, love how there’s news stories to make this app look like I’m reading about the news. However, when I go to the Get Educated section to learn about abuse and steps, the links link out to my web browser automatically instead of being inside the app. And there’s not much content about abusive relationships. There’s 4 content pieces. I want to know more. And it only links out to dr. Phil’s website. So then I have to clear my history browser. C’mon, if you’re creating something to keep women safe, don’t have it link out! Everything should be in the app.
Great concept but doesn’t work
I downloaded this app because it’s seems like an amazing resource for help. However, the triple tap to call for extra help would not work no matter what I did.
I do have to agree with another woman who noted that it is dangerous for victims as it links out and creates a search history abusers can find.
Also, on another note, there were only left leaning news organizations. Barely any moderate ones either.
This app and concept are wonderful. This will be a life saver for many people. I plan to share this with my 3 daughters and all friends and family. Thank you!
