It's proven that the weather has a big impact on asthma patients. Asthmatic is an app made by and for asthma patients that predicts up to 5 days in advance how the weather will affect your lungs and tells you which precautions to take.

Unlike other forecasts that only focus on pollution, this app takes all environmental factors into account, has a clean interface and is available WORLDWIDE. Meaning that you can track the quality for any location you like, even when traveling abroad.

How does it work?
Factors such as temperatures, humidity levels, pollution, ozone levels, indoor climate, etc., can all trigger symptoms or asthma attacks. It's hard to keep track of all those different factors and often you don't realise the conditions are bad until you start getting symptoms.

Asthmatic calculates the air quality based on a big variety of weather conditions and then gives you a score ranging from poor to excellent. Each day has a description which tells you which conditions are bad and gives you advise on how to deal with those. The forecast is shown for the upcoming 5 days, current day included, so you can even plan ahead when to take your medication or when to avoid exercising outdoors.

What?! NO!

Local agencies warning about air quality right now because of several fires in the area. Other apps showing the air quality as virtually terrible. Don't even need any of them right now. Just look outside the smoke is so thick. And yet THIS APP says the air quality is high and I should go out and enjoy the outdoors... despite saying that there's smoke in the area. Since this app is to help those with a health issue, the developers might want to call it quits before someone actually takes them seriously.

It would be nice...

Okay so they have the weather mostly correct but the app needs to take other things into consideration. So right now my app says the weather is perfect and air quality is high, but it definitely is not. There are brush fires all over Southern California right now and the city I live in is filled with smoke. I've already used Qvar and my nebulizer today.

Developer Response

Hi, I'm aware of this and an update has been sent to Apple which will fix your issue. Apple has to review this update, which might take a couple of days. So you will be able to update the app within the course of next week.

Helpful app!

Helpful app though I do have to admit it's a tad amusing that it doesn't factor in severe weather. A category 2 hurricane is hitting us this evening and the app says 'light rain' and wind speeds of 7mph. Lol. It's more like 90mph!
