Astral is an experimental marriage of Pacifism-style gameplay and two electronic sitar-themed tracks. Abstract visuals light up and change colors with the music, creating a playable light show.
Precise controls let you deftly maneuver among ever-growing swarms, leading them towards strings which explode the swarms once plucked.
The game features two modes, one for each track. One track is faster and upbeat, with arcade-style gameplay to match. The other track is darker and more ambient, with more relaxed gameplay.
Best played with headphones.

Ok, great game! Pixel perfect controls that should be taken to the next level! This should be a duel stick shooter as well, imagine with the tight controls and being able to shoot stuff too! Also, please add Game Center or Openfeint (or both!), that element is definitely missing from this game. This is a very nice game, but it could be a show stopper if taken a step further, oh how I hope this is a game we will see additions to!! Not many games get me excited for the potential of them, but this one has! ALSO, please add auto-pause (when you take your thumb off control, it pauses automatically) and screen rotation. When I play on my iPad and have headphones in, the jack is in my way! :(
Very cool concept and a very fun game - fun to play, look at, and hear! Completely wonderful but I do have a few wishes!
I would REALLLLLY love it if the sounds of the strings as you fly through them were in key with the music. I found myself really wanting to fly through the strings in rhythm with the music but when the sound doesn't fit it kind of kills that.
I would love a touch anywhere control option (still steer like the current method, just be able to relocate the stick to wherever I put my finger down), and also if the ship(?) kept going in the direction it's flying when taking your finger off the screen.
I also hope you'll add more tracks, and new modes. I'd pay IAP for creative new modes for sure.
Last, something the "how to play" section doesn't address that I'm wondering about - what determines how much of a blob is destroyed when you hit a string? String length? Is it a proximity thing? I can't tell, and it would be good to know. Sometimes I fly through a string straight into a little bit of remaining blob when I didn't expect it to survive.
Again, wonderful game, one of the best to come out recently, and very original! Thanks for making it!
Ok here is my story. So my friend is comparing games on our iPods when she says... You don't have astral! After I got it downloaded, I played once... Boring. Then I played a second time, huh it's not that bad. Then I played a third time... Oh my god I love it!
