Peace of mind just got a lot easier with AT&T Secure Family Companion.

AT&T Secure Family Companion is a free companion App+ for installation on your child’s device and must be paired with a separate AT&T Secure FamilyTM App for use by parents. AT&T Secure Family Companion App helps parents know where their kids are, manage device distractions and what they access and buy online.

By pairing the AT&T Secure Family Companion with AT&T Secure Family, parents will be able to enjoy the following features:
• Location Tracking – Track a family member on an interactive map.
• Arrival/Departure Alerts – Receive an alert when your child enters or leaves a location (home, school, etc.).
• Pause Internet – Limit Online distractions (time for homework, time for bed).
• Filter & Block Content – Filter or block Apps and Online content based on age appropriate settings.
• App Purchase Block – Block your child’s ability to make App purchases.

Easy Setup and Pairing for Parents:
You can find the AT&T Secure Family App for use by parents in the App Store.

With your child’s device in hand:
Step 1 Send an invite text from your AT&T Secure Family app on your phone to your child’s phone.
Step 2 Open the text on your child’s phone and tap the link.
Step 3 Tap the AT&T Secure Family Companion download button and follow the instructions that appear on your child’s phone screen.

Other important information about AT&T Secure Family Companion:
− Secure Family Companion is a free App. Subscription will automatically renew each month unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current month’s billing period.
− AT&T Secure Family Companion is not compatible with AT&T Mobile Security Plus. If you wish to continue with the purchase, you must either remove AT&T Mobile Security Plus from your iTunes account or downgrade to AT&T Mobile Security Basic before adding AT&T Secure Family Companion to your child’s device. To cancel your subscription, go to account settings in iTunes. No cancellation of the current month’s subscription is allowed. No refunds or credits for partial subscriptions terms.

They told “us”

We were specifically told that our child would never even know we installed this. That they would ever even know we set this up. The minute I added him to my app as a child it sent him a AUTOMATIC notification by text that someone in your family with my number attached is trying to install A location and block history app on your number! What the heck? This defeats the whole purpose of them not knowing!!! We specifically asked AT&T if that would happen. On top of that... it never worked. Showed him to be 45 minutes away from me and we were in the same house. Feel sorry for all those kids getting grounded for going somewhere they’ve never even been because of this stupid app
Don’t use this app!!! Find something else. I’m still looking.

Location way off

The Location is way off. I live in DC, my child and I live in the same house. My location said I was in DC but for my child it said they were in Maryland. Our phones were right next to each others. Maryland was about a mile away from where we live. The location tracker needs to be improved to show more accurate results. If this was an emergency and I needed to
Locate a member of my family, it wouldn’t be used. For $7.99 a month I am expecting better and more accurate results. My Life 360 app has more accurate location results and this app is FREE. If the location does not improve, I will cancel my monthly payment.

I am incredibly disappointed that ATT chose to replace their stellar Smart Limits app with this nonsense. It is easily disabled by children. Many parents are getting shamed about how they should trust their kids or not give them smart phones and should not complain about the changes in the app. However, no one really knows why a person uses this app with their child. I have developmentally disabled children who are teenage and want to have smart phones. Being able to track their usage and location and limit interactions if need be made a “typical” teen phone possible for them while limiting risk factors. I really hope that AT&T will reconsider the features available in this app.
