Do not download this app!!!!
I downloaded this app and signed in and looked at the features, then I read reviews about this app and none of them were wrong about it, it zaps your phone of cell data! I signed in and tried closing the account because people said it messes up the cellular data on their children’s phone so I did that and my own data stopped working so I had to chat with AT&T through the text feature on the my AT&T app for at least 45 minutes and explained I had to close this app on my line! While texting AT&T through the chat feature on the myat&t app I was transferred to text with AT&T tech and he was able to fix it for me. Thanks to Ryan and I believe David, I was able to get my data back. Thanks to at&t tech I’ve been helped with problems I should have never had if I would’ve listened to the reviews first. Trust me I just logged in for about 30 second and did not click anything and then I logged out and poof my service was not working. If you find yourself in this situation go somewhere where there is WiFi, go to AT&Ts website, use the chat option and give them the info they need, and explain to them that your smart limits account is blocking your data and tell them to remove it from your line.
Needs a Feature Change!
This is a request to AT&T Smart Limits app developers to change the app to allow Smart Limits users to get full access in modifying the time restrictions for texting, data usage, and calls separately. Right now time restrictions bundles blocking calls, texts, and data usage altogether (either all on or all off). This has been a problem ever since I downloaded this app and this issue should be prioritized because it’s an extremely important parental control! So, I set up my son’s “Allowed List” 30 contacts, and I permit him to only be able to call those numbers. Any numbers not on that list that he tries to make outgoing calls to, to be automatically blocked. I don’t mind him being able to access data to use the internet (when WiFi is turned off or he is not in a WiFi area), which is why I’m requesting this capability to turn on time restrictions, but also be able to choose what are the specifics (call, texts, and data usage) that he is or is not allowed to do, in this case data usage.
Horrible if you try to remove the app
We have been unable to use the phone that was restricted since smartlimits was installed. It’s been about two weeks now without the ability to use data. I’ve removed all the limits that were placed on the phone and they reappear. I’ve changed the window of time that the phone should be restricted (to something unobtrusive like 1am-2am), and it didn’t save that setting. I tried to switch the phone restrictions to another phone on our account (because I absolutely had to have a phone designated), and saved the setting but it reverted right back. I’ve closed and deleted the account (and added, and deleted again as requested by various customer service people), changed the SIM card, turned it on and off dozens of times, had 5 service calls so far from ATT and one from Apple. Each customer service person worked on the case for no less than 30 minutes before saying they did all they could do. Whining, muttering under my breath, swearing and crying also did nothing.
