Baby Boomer Freindly

I've been a trumpet player for many years and I know how to read music. As far as the piano, I'm not good at all! I know the notes on the keyboard and I know intermediate level music theory and I just wanted an easy and convenient way to practice. Music theory knowledge without practicing doesn't do me any good. This app has helped me practice keyboard fingering, playing at a required time and gives an opportunity to master the lessons before moving on. And that's just the first two lessons. My job requires me to be away from home a lot and this app will help me improve my keyboard skills while away from home. Did I mention it's fun? It's a game! It can be played with other players that own the app! I elected not to do so for now. I want to practice a little before I play the GAME against other people. More than likely, the other players out there will probably be a lot younger than I and a lot better. LOL I'm looking forward to using this app a lot since I've loaded it onto my iPad and iPhone! Music is for all ages. I really like apps like these! YES! This app does have sound and it also provides metronome clicks for tempo awareness.

Sight reading

At 56 I retired from the state. I had a lot of time on my hands and decided to fulfill a life long dream to learn to sight read. I have "played piano" since I was 12, I played in several bands and for not being able to read music I could play quite a wide range of popular music. Eventually I would learn to read music "but slowly" I attribute that to my age.. "Attack of the piano" forces you to "read fast" and not only that but for your eyes to "dart" up and down from bass to treble staff; like speed reading. I wrote an earlier review in anticipation of my progress. I have exceeded my expectations. Hint; don't get into the habit of "pattern recognition" you must recognize each note and day to yourself. It takes longer but enables true "sight reading" enabling you to play a song with minimal or no rehearsal/memorization. This "game" is not just for kids...

I am a beginner jumping head first into piano and sight reading. I'm on vacation, without keyboard, trying to learn quickly. This app is exactly what I needed. I've improved several times faster than I could have alone. After some hours of play I'm already getting most of the keyboard fluently in both clefs- something I thought would take far longer to accomplish. I can't vouch for the more advanced levels. I suspect it may be tough to find the keys with two hands as it gets more complicated, but for me it's perfect. I used some of the other good piano sight reading apps to learn where the notes are, but this app pushes your limits and improvement comes faster. They manage to make it into a fun and addictive game.
