Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
This app was originally written for iOS 2 and maintained through iOS 6. Dropbox will stop working in June 2017 and a future version of iOS (likely iOS 11) will completely break the app. My Attendance2 app was written for iOS 5 and is still maintained today so I recommend you buy it instead. Attendance2 uses new internal data structures to support new features so the data format is not compatible. I recommend you start using Attendance2 at the beginning of a new term/quarter/semester. I will be pulling this app from the store soon. For over three years, the following paragraph has recommended people buy the new app.
Unless you are running iOS 6 or earlier I strongly recommend you buy my new Attendance2 app. It has all the features of this app (except for group texting which did not work reliably due to phone carrier restrictions) and more and runs on iOS 7.1 and higher. The changes Apple made in iOS 7 break some of the features of this original app (including getting photos from the photo library). See http;//www.dave256apps.com for more information about the new app.
Attendance is a universal iPhone/Touch/iPad app (runs on iOS 4.x and 5.x) that allows you to take and keep attendance records. Its main intended use is for teachers to keep track of records for their classes, but it can also be used for meetings and group gatherings. The attendance statuses are completely customizable. You can import names a number of ways including formatted CSV files that you store in your Dropbox account or send as email attachments. You can also import names from an Address Book group or you can enter the names by hand on your device. In response to a few of the reviews, I have updated the Attendance support web page with text describing the various import options and how to use the app. Links to the relevant videos are included along with the text descriptions.

What's New in Version 4.7.2
minor bug fixes
from the developer of Attendance
To ChrissieBarnes: The first thing to try is rebooting your device. That solves a number of problems with many apps. If that doesn't help, backup your Attendance data to Dropbox, delete the app, and then reinstall the app, and restore your data from Dropbox. I don't have any other reports of frequent lockups so I suspect something is wrong on your device and one of those suggested fixes will likely take care of it.
To TribalDancer: My email address is in the help is on the Instructions tab of Attendance, and the Website/FAQ help section of Attendance2. While Attendance2 does have some of the features you request, neither app is designed for the use where each student does not regularly attend each class. The first paragraph of the description of Attendance has stated since February (6 months before Attendance2 came out) that the new app would be released in the summer of 2012.
Good, but the buttons sometimes lack sensitivity
Update: bumped it up to 5 stars, just because this developer is constantly updating his app. Constantly.
This app does exactly what it says and what I need it to do. My only complaint is that sometimes the buttons lack sensitivity. These times are the only times with my iphone, regardless of any app, I find that pressing a button gets no response. Sometimes I have to back out of a page and go back in, or move the button higher or lower in the view so that it registers my touch. It's a weird and annoying problem that I'd love for the developers to address.
Decent App, Wish Photo Option Worked
This is an ok app that I've used for several years in various versions. The most annoying current flaw, however, is that I cannot add photos to student profiles -- which is sort of the point of the app, after all. When I go to add photos from library I get a blank and unresponsive screen, and I have to manually exit the app in order to get out of it. Can the developers please fix this annoying limitation?
