The first thing you should understand is that this is more than an app, it's a System, It's more of a program than a simple app. To give you an idea of it's capabilities, I'll explain how I use it. I own (2) Sonos Play 1 speakers and love them. What I don't like about them is that you are bound to the Sonos app that is limited to what it can play. With the combination of an app called Airfoil and Audio Acacia, I am now able to not only play anything through my Sonos speakers, but I can also send the song (or different music) to apple airplay devices, apple TV, iphones, ipads, and MAC and PC computers! With Airfoil, you are able to send audio from anything on your computer to all of those devices (itunes,mp3s,spotify,iheart,etc. Audio Acacia enables you to send different audio to the sources or the same audio to them all IN SYNC! If you want to create a whole house music system (with a combination of different devices) give this APP a try.
The multi-room audio controller I have been waiting for!
I have a stereo in the living room, one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom. Decent speakers connected to my computer in the office.
Before this app, I tried using iTunes' AirPlay to turn all this into a multi-room audio rig. But the delay between rooms was very annoying.
Then came this app.
Since I am using audio|acacia, and I have been since day -1 (I was in the beta-Test group), I am enjoying Music in all my rooms, nicely in sync.
I also very much like the multi-zone feature, where I can, if I want, play different music in every room, or group of rooms!
Thanks, Developers, for putting this together! keep it up!!
Work in progress
There are problems, and the list would be too long to explain here, but this has great potential.
Right now I'm playing through audio|acacia to various Sonos units and web browsers at the same time.
It hasn't found some things. I can't get it to serve some things. I don't know what to think about the problems, but I'm intrigued enough to continue trying.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
