Photo's are a disapointment
While a decently constructed guide with a excellent logging features the photo's are a large disappointment from a identification and aesthetic perspective. Many photo's lack detail, are poor contrast, have distracting and obscuring features, and don't even compare to the ones in the Humman's guides. It suffers from the many problems seen in Audubon's guides but amplified in this one. The editors need to look carefully at guides such as the Sibley's bird app and ask themselves honestly why their guide compares poorly. With the right type of illustrations this guide would get 4 stars from me. With a few interface fixes, five stars. - from a marine biologist with 3500 dives
It's a wonder to be able to scroll through this enormous base of data and instantly have vivid pictures, descriptions and other information. A wonder though - not a complaint. In the "dangerous fishes" section there is one fish. There are, of course, many more so I'm guessing something is broken in the search. If I'm right, I'm certain it will be fixed quickly. Thanks for this very nice app.
Thumbnails too small
I love having this field guide info at my finger tips, but I'd you don't know what you're looking for these really won't help. Unlike the hard-copies, the thumbnail pics are so small they are useless on both the iPhone and iPad. I've finally become frustrated enough to post this on all the guides I've purchased with the hope that others will agree and get the developers attention since this I really the only major flaw in thaw otherwise excellent apps.
