Not as good as Birds
Way more effort was put into Audubon's flash ship product "Audubon Birds." This app is not iphone 5 formatted, doesn't use any iOS 5 or 6 features, and largely is not as comprehensive as the 'Birds' offering.
Several fish that are more obscure were not in this guide (like Scythe Butterfly Fish), but more unforgivably, very well known and important fish like the California Sheephead have only 1 image, and brief, incomplete descriptions. For the uninitiated, the CA Sheephead changes sex at age 7, and looks completely different, and yet only one sex was pictured, and there wasn't even a verbal description of the missing sex.
Thumbnails too small
I love having this field guide info at my finger tips, but I'd you don't know what you're looking for these really won't help. Unlike the hard-copies, the thumbnail pics are so small they are useless on both the iPhone and iPad. I've finally become frustrated enough to post this on all the guides I've purchased with the hope that others will agree and get the developers attention since this I really the only major flaw in thaw otherwise excellent apps.
This is a great app with tons of potential to be a great field tool in the future. Pics a little to small, names and info. off for some species, a few things that need some attention, but at least this app is out there! Not many useful guides for wildlifers, but this is a great start! I love the ability to keep lists!! Thanks and Keep up the good work!
