Audubon Hummingbirds at Home

Download Audubon’s Hummingbirds at Home iPhone app, which makes it easy and fun to keep track of the hummingbirds you see while collecting data that helps Audubon scientists and researchers understand how to protect them.

To sustain their high energy lifestyles, hummingbirds must always have quick access to food. This means they must time their migrations with the flowering of the nectar-bearing plants they depend on. Recent studies show that the blooming of hummingbird flowers and arrival of the hummingbirds in their breeding areas are out of sync, which could spell trouble for the world’s smallest bird.

Now you can help Audubon unravel what is happening with hummingbirds and their nectar sources. The Hummingbirds at Home app helps you set up a patch in your yard, garden, porch, window box, park – or just about anywhere – where you can do plant surveys to keep track of hummingbirds and what they feed on. You can also log sightings whenever you spot a hummingbird outside your patch. Then use your smart phone or computer to submit your data to Audubon researchers.

While other birding apps help you identify birds, Hummingbirds at Home lets you contribute to their well-being. Join us. Together we can help hummingbirds.

We value your participation as we work on adding features.

For the best experience, please run Hummingbirds at Home on iOS 7 or later.

No longer working!

I've used this app for the past 2 yrs, but now it won't let me log in. They need to update this app and fix it. One thing I didn't really like about the app in the past was that it didn't ask anything except whether or not you saw a hummer, and what it/they were feeding on--not how many, or anything else--so it got pretty boring and I stopped using it.

Can't log in. Can't record location.

I was really excited to contribute to this effort. My yard is a Monarch Waystation with plants that attract hummingbirds daily, including: Allen's, Anna's, Calliopes seasonally, and recently a newcomer, a Black-Chinned. I could not record sightings because the location entry would not respond. I logged out, hoping to reset the app. I can now neither log in nor re-register. Too bad. Deleted the app.

No problem logging in

Not a bad app. Too bad you can't add certain flowers to the program, I have many flowers that the hummers are using but they are not in the app and I can find no way to add the flowers to their database.
