Description

Autodesk SketchBook is the award-winning drawing app from the leader in computer-aided design. It's made for creative professionals, aspiring artists, and anyone who likes to capture their ideas in digital form. Known for its natural drawing experience and clean user interface that gets out of your way, SketchBook has everything you need to create beautiful digital art. The brush engine has 170 default brushes you can customize, so they'll always perform exactly as you expect. Ink feels fluid and smooth, synthetic brushes blend colors in a natural way, and texture brushes mimic natural media.

The SketchBook drawing and rendering engine was designed to use the full computing power of every iOS device (especially the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil). Rapid UI mode gets a thumbs up from our users because it lets your free hand pull up interface elements when needed for the largest possible workspace on your iPad.

The list of tools in SketchBook is vast, but a few standouts that will help make you a better artist include:
• Radial Symmetry: Product designers and mandala makers alike love the ability to draw once and replicate their lines up to 16 times using Radial Symmetry.
• Predictive Stroke: Draw a line and our Predictive Stroke assertive technology will make your line straight. Draw a basic shape and it will make your circles, rectangles, and triangles more precise. If you're drawing freehand, it will add just the right amount of smoothing to curved lines. Don't need help? Turn it down or turn it off.
• Ruler and Ellipse: Perspective is everything in drawing and our Ruler and Ellipse tool will help ensure you're realizing the correct positioning, size, rotation, and aspect ratio.
• Full Layer Support: SketchBook opens and exports Photoshop documents (PSD files) natively, preserving layer names and blending modes.
• Scan Sketch: With a quick snap of your device's camera, SketchBook can transform your paper-based line drawings into digital form. Great for getting new life out of old drawings or for making the transition to an all-digital workflow.
• Autosave and infinite Undo: There's nothing worse than losing your work, and there's nothing better than being able to step back in your workflow a few dozen times to give it another go. SketchBook saves both your work and your patience.

For when inspiration hits.

It works better than ol’ SketchBook Xpress

BARninja24

About a year ago, I downloaded the SketchBook Xpress app a couple of days after I got my very own iPad Pro, it worked just like the one I have on my Mac computer, but as the months passed, the SBX app told me to ask the developer of this app to update it or just continue with it’s current version, I went to the App Store and this one had no new updates, so I was cool with drawing my digital art in that current version anyway, but a year later after I got my own iPad Pro, I updated my iPad Pro to iOS 11, and when that SketchBook Xpress does not work with iOS 11 updates, it put me back to my home page, and then I started looking around to see if I could find my old drawing app’s name and see if I could update it from there, it was not on the App Store anymore, so I came across this app, watched three of it’s demonstration videos, and so I deleted my SketchBook Xpress app good bye, and gave this new app a try, and... it actually works better than the ol’ SBX app did once, and I’m already getting the hang of using this new drawing app, I feel like I have much better control on the Autodesk Sketchbook app than I did the SketchBook Xpress app, so I like this one now, I’m still learning how to use it, but I know I’m to love this new drawing app from this day forward.

Great App, with one Autodesk Flaw

Due to being a former CAD tech, I can tell anyone that the only features this needs, are a sizable grid, ortho type lock (straight lines), and the ability to use a basic coordinate center 0,0.. with built in scale reference object that can be turned on like the ruler, but, possibly two of them, meaning updating the ruler so a straight 90° degree angle for example can easily be made, with a basic scaling ability... and this app fills the gap for CAD techs like myself who worked on planning stage as well as the actual engineering plans (land desktop with civil), for your architect type drawings, to compliment or replace Illustrator/Photoshop.. But, yes, for architect type drawings, the lines producing a shadow if you cut and paste a layer makes the app not easily usable for production drawings unless you dont mind taking a lot longer and redrawing everything when you need to adjust/move something.

Asides from these basic additions, and adjustment to how shadows/shading/blending is done automatically on line work, this app is wonderful. I need a razor sharp line, and spend a lot of eraser time if I use the tools built in to say draw a square because zoom in, you will see two/three colors of blended shading. So, now, the paint bucket does not work correctly in those areas.
