SketchBook for Everybody!
At Autodesk, we believe creativity starts with an idea. From quick conceptual sketches to fully finished artwork, sketching is at the heart of the creative process. You never know when a great idea will strike, so access to fast and powerful creative sketching tools is an invaluable part of any creative process.
For this reason, we are excited to announce that the fully featured version of SketchBook is now FREE for everyone!
We've made some pretty impactful improvements, the biggest being the removal of the trial. You'll also find a fix or two, as well.
There is no more trial version.
We created a new **Welcome** splash screen, so there's no longer a need to log in to use SketchBook.
The Blog location changed under our noses, but it has been updated. You can access it, once again, from within the app.
Apple Pencil input now works within the Welcome screen.
The **No Network** message no longer appears prematurely, and we added a **Back** button to retry after a real network error.
Formatting issues on the account information dialog have been corrected.
We made clicking the Close button a bit easier for all popup dialogs (it was previously a bit small for fingers).
Ratings and Reviews

It’s going to get better but it’s still good.
I like using the program. I’m not a great artist. It is taking me a while to get use to drawing on glass and not on paper. Drawing on paper has a slight drag on the pencil. It’s nice having all the different drawing instruments some work well. I haven’t checked them all out yet. The pencil doesn’t work great. I can’t get a dark line like a pencil would even by pressing hard. I use the technical pen instead and use light pressure. Some new features I would like to see are, A save button on the screen. To save a project one needs to select the new sketch option then you are asked if you want to save your work. So, when you want to take a break and save your work, I got worried about starting a new sketch without saving my work. It will save it before changing screens it just makes me nervous. The other feature I would like to have is on the side bar where the different shades of color are. When selecting a shade of a certain color it shows the particular color at the top right of the screen but the shade panel on the right of screen that you just selected from does not show the one that was just picked. Maybe if they highlighted your selection that way you could go a shade lighter or darker without having to remember the one you just chose. I love the feature where if you want the shaded area lighter, no erasing necessary, just pick a shade lighter than the area you want lighter then draw over it. It will gradually get lighter.
Great sketching app!
Great app! I’ve had this app maybe for a month but I already love it. The features are a lovely mix of creative and technical that I can really appreciate. I also love that you can purchase the extra tools without having to commit to some yearly payment plan.
I’ve only found one bug so far that keeps this review from being five stars. When I first started using the app, I noticed that using the hold-touch-eyedropper function, even by accident, would cause the app to effectively crash. I could still access all of my projects, but none of the tools would make any mark whatsoever until I went out of the app, closed it out, and restarted it. After I turned the long-hold-touch shortcut off, the bug didn’t pop up as often, but every once in a while, it still does act like I’ve activated the eyedropper and the app will ‘crash’ again. The bug never happens when I manually go into the color wheel and click the eye dropper button, so I think the bug is linked to the gesture shortcut that I can’t seem to turn off.
The bug isn’t a super big deal, but it is a little annoying, especially if you do like to use that shortcut and keep it switched on, and it is irritating to have my work interrupted because I have to restart the app. It would be great if the developers could fix it in the next update. Otherwise, the app is great for drawing and sketching and I would definitely recommend it.
