Extremely useful and attractive

Wonderfully useful and nicely designed, with many different functions, all easy to implement. Unlike many timer apps, this one allows you to customize the sounds, and includes a wide selection of sounds ranging from soothing to alert. My one suggestion: the app includes a keyboard shortcut for stopping the timer. Unfortunately this shortcut is the spacebar. If the task you are timing involves typing, this means you automatically turn off the timer almost before you notice that it has gone off. As far as I can tell this shortcut is not changeable, either within the program or in the OSX System Preferences panel for the keyboard. For writing tasks, then, the timer's usefulness is somewhat compromised. On the other hand there are many, many positives; the amount of time left on the timer displays in an unobtrusive but very useful little pie-chart in the menu bar. Overall, this is the most flexible, useful, and attractive of all the timer applications I have tried.

Version 2 has me blown away

The old version of this app got the job done with some modicum of style, but it was for me merely a utility. This new version, though. Woah. The skill and artistry that the developer has brought to bear is incredible. Mornings 2's new interface is vastly superior, with an improved workflow and a refined, if somewhat showy, new look. The new relaxing sounds feature for uneasy sleepers is probably the greatest new feature, but the new reminders feature will make my daily work easier too.

The only improvement I could ask for would be for the Mornings menu item to offer a clock to replace OS X's built-in timepiece. I'd love to be able to just click on my clock and get a calendar.

If it works, don't fix it…..

Sorry, but I have found the updated version to be convoluted and, hmm, unmac like, if you will. I loved this app before as it was streamlined and easy to use, but this version takes it from an Apple app to a Windows style app. If you think me incorrect, simply scroll up and look at the ad. I hate to say this because the developer is a wonderful guy and even responded to an email I sent him long ago. So, nothing personal. I just like the old version better. In fairness though, I love the option to listen to music or sounds of creation for a period of time on this version. In summary, I would love to have the content of this version packaged in the form of the previous version. Some things just do not need to be changed. I am a Mac user for a reason…simple mindedness! Ha! Think it through and reach your own conclusion….
