Learn Spanish, French, Italian, German, and many more languages with Babbel. Developed by a team of language learning experts, Babbel has helped millions of people speak a new language with confidence.
THE BABBEL METHOD
Here’s what makes Babbel more effective than any other language learning app:
1. Confidence — Our goal is to get you speaking from your very first lesson. And our elegantly designed courses give you the confidence to get there. We teach you how to engage in practical, everyday conversations, making it easier for you to have authentic experiences in your new language.
2. Comprehension — Our lessons immerse you in relevant culture and real-life conversations. We want you to really take in the language, not just memorize useless phrases. And we provide helpful hints in English (or your native language) to make your new language more relatable.
3. Retention — We know you’re busy. That’s why our lessons are short but sweet: about 10-15 minutes, and designed to send your new language straight to long-term memory. We regularly refresh your memory with our dynamic review sessions, which target areas where you need improvement most. Finally, we make sure you really grasp what you’re learning by bringing it back later in a new context.
• 14 languages to choose from
• 10-15 minute, bite-sized lessons that fit conveniently into your schedule

Ratings and Reviews
Overall pretty good
The app helps with reading, writing, and speaking Spanish. You learn the rules of the language. Building on what you have learned. Overall very happy with it. The lessons aren’t too long so if you are limited on time you can finish up what you are working on.
My problem with the site is I tend to find at least one error in what they show you and what you are supposed to translate. It seems like oversight in their editting. For example, in Lesson 16-Vamos en Avion Part 1, it was going over the rule for using a for the word at. Combining a with the masculine article el together to form al. They were testing me on whether to write a with the feminine una or la or the masculine al or a un with the word given. One of the question had the word in with my word which it would be translated en, I wrote it correctly, but was marked wrong. Obviously, they wrote the answer wrong. It is aggravating to get answers wrong when it wasn’t caught when designing. I wonder how many others catch it. I haven’t dealt with Spanish since high school, thought I should based on where I live now. I would be happy to point them out for the website creators if they would like.
Overall, pleased. I would recommend for kids to do in the summer if they are going to be doing a language in high school, for adults wanting to learn something new, or those revamping their language skills. It is much cheaper than Rosetta stone and Rosetta stone’s sample didn’t include any writing.

I’m sorry what
So, I know passable french, but I wanted to improve more. I thought to myself “oh every ad is pretty much Babbel and I have nothing to lose” so I downloaded the app. I was so excited to learn more french. I opened the app, filled out the beginning question and was presented with a challenge “beginner or advanced”. Now, I know I went to france and did a decent job of understanding and speaking so how hard could it be? Well, I chose advanced. The first question- my mind finds the answer to “what time is it” a phrase I leaned 4 years ago. Perhaps it’s just getting a feel for where I am... I click the right answer. It repeats the phrase in french. This is it, I think, I’m finally going to get another question and go back to learning! So I wait for it to load... and I wait... and I wait some more. Maybe it froze? I closed the app and opened it back up. I went back through the same survey thing and finally back to the question. I have this one under control now. I click the right answer. It doesn’t repeat the phrase. Okay, weird. I go to my home screen, open another app, and come back. I try the question again. It took half an hour and I’m on good wifi and service this is an issue with the app I couldn’t do anything why the hell did I think it would work? Everyone else said you get 6 free words but hey at least you got words all I got was a haunting reminder of the passage of time

Hey, sorry you had this experience! Please email us at email@example.com so we can take a look at your account for you - and suggest a fix.
Coming from Pimsluer Russian
I studied Pimsluer Russian but the duration of time it took along with the lack of writing and visuals made it easy to speak but difficult to ensure I was saying the right thing, either pronunciation or the right version of the word within the sentence, such as “a” and “и.” I did make it through Stage 1 (of 3) with them and it made the beginning of this app very simple as I knew a good amount right off the bat, but this app ties in visual, auditory, muscle and speach in a way that’s much quicker and easier to understand what you are saying. I also found it really helpful the way they group the language together, and how they explain how and why certain parts of the language are the way they are. These concepts are essential to understanding the language but I was completely missing out with Pimsluer. It’s fast, fun and can be done in my free time. If I take a week off I can be confident to pick it all back up again rather than be faced with the choice to listen to a 45 minute seminar that I’ve already heard or go to the next one and not remember everything from last week.
Try the app out! It’s fun and refreshing!
