I downloaded and installed, only to find out it’s not free… after playing for a little bit the game quit and then they ask for Money to keep playing. They should be clear in the listing of this game that it’s not free and that there is a time bomb in it that will limit your ability to play anymore without paying.
Computer player too easy to defeat
I haven’t lost to the computer once. I don’t belive I’m a master backgammon player so this seems quite worrisome to me.
There isn’t a way to either skip or speed up the die roll animation. I understand that the development team may have spent considerable time with the animation and they are proud of it, but most of the time I just want to see the results of the roll.
There are also some strange bugs. Sometimes the last pip and the channel get confused which allows the clearing of stones when it’s not eligible. The board will sometimes randomly rotate several degrees.
Honestly, you cannot enjoy playing the game at all with this app because of how awkward the gameplay is. The dice take an exceptionally long time to roll and there is a jerky feel to the way the AI plays. Even for a free app, this is well below what is acceptable. (It is also worth noting that you won’t be able to play a full game for free, partway through you will be prompted to pay to continue. However, this didn’t factor into my score since developers need to make money off of these apps somehow and this at least allows users the opportunity to test the game before buying.)
Developer Response ,
The dice roll can be perceived as long on some throws, yes. Unfortunately we cannot comment back on such vague comments as "how awkward the gameplay is" or "there is a jerky feel to the way the AI plays". Please do not get miss-leaded by this review. Just download the game for free and make your own opinion.
