iPhone Screenshots

Background is a beautiful, well designed and easy to use Unsplash client, in which you can browse and save high quality photos. Saved images can be used among other things as a wallpaper as they are under Creative Common Zero License which means you can copy, modify, distribute and use the photos for free, including commercial purposes, without asking permission from or providing attribution to the photographer or Unsplash.
Save a picture by touching and holding it.
Background is free, but with an in-app purchase you can buy Background Premium, which turns off the unobtrusive ads and unlocks the search.
There are 5 basic screens (the order of which can be changed and screens can be hidden):
– search (requires Background Premium),
– newest photos,
– curated photos,
– favourite photos (requires Background Premium),
– settings.
See more photos by scrolling down or up. You can change the screen by swiping left or right.

Some reviews:

This just might be the best wallpaper app out there, and not just because of the excellent selection of high resolution photos, but also because of the app itself. It’s beautiful, intuitive, fast, and just a joy to use.” by gtg465x – Nov 19, 2017

I love this app! The photos are so tasteful and stunning. And there's tons of them! I tried the search (they let you try for free) and it brought up lots of good stuff." by CalifDude – Dec 2, 2017

"Aesthetically pleasing design
You well never realize how UI is the heart and soul of any application until you actually find one that’s beautiful as this. Easy, friendly and lastly it sticks with the iPhone design guideline." by LittleOrange97 – Nov 7, 2017

"Small Details
It’s all about the small details with this intuitive photo app. From the sleek navigation powered by intelligent swiping gestures to the way motion translates over to how you view each photo (Love how a swipe up perfectly positions the next photo in the collection to fit the screen). This is the best way to view photos from Unsplash." by SileNceR` – Nov 4, 2017

Good but could use improvement

This app is sleek and stylish, but it sacrifices the ability for users to guide themselves toward content they want to see in service to those principles. There are no categories, so if you do not find random people on your wallpapers intriguing or inspirational, for example, you still have to pass pic after pic of randos, however beautifully featured, that are meaningless to you. I suggest forming some categories to get around this annoyance. Or, the ability to preview a sheet of thumbnails and bypass some of the less personally interesting content could be an option (though this would sacrifice the simple presentation considerably in an effort to be user friendly). I did appreciate that credit was given and photographers’ social accounts or websites were linked. I’ll never really use that, but I’m sure artists and consumers alike enjoy the exposure and connection that function can bring. Good idea there.

Refreshingly simple; great content

It’s a wallpapers app on the surface, one with exceptional content at that. I’d also say that there seems to be a better response from iOS when implementing these images as backgrounds on devices, over the traditional browser/saved to images route, as the images look much sharper.

However the best thing about the app, is the refreshingly simple yet thought out way in which it delivers it’s purpose (wallpapers!).

Have an iPhone 7+/8+/X? In that case you have a sexy device. Don’t keep it stock or use a low res background. Get something from this great app and network of awesome talent. Well done and well worth a the price happy hour “craft beer”.

The concept is cool! I like the idea of bringing photographers together on a platform to share their work together, but the execution was awful. First of all, no categories. Some people might like skies, others cityscapes. There’s no way to filter just those. Next, I have to pay to get a full resolution wallpaper. I went into my camera roll and saw square images. Squares! Which then turn blurry and horrible when I try and set it as my wallpaper. Overall, not the best. Try something like a quick google search instead.
