I wish I could put in few words just how well developed this game is, but it is impossible. When I first downloaded this game I thought it would be intriguing and I was happily proven to be correct. To begin with it has no story, it does not have characters nor does it have any form of objective save for one goal... reach the end. It immediately throws you into a beautiful and stunning world filled with machinery and nature where you must avoid the dangers of both to survive. The backgrounds are alive, gorgeous, and, in a manor of speaking, eerie in their own sense. You gain a sense of mystery as you slowly flap through this world trying to find where you belong. At first you feel alone within this world of mystery but you soon find many creatures staring at you, watching you from afar. This sense of mystery makes you wonder why you are the only one trying to fly away from where you begin. As you delve deeper into the heart of this ever expanding swamp you find stranger and stranger creatures and technology. This game truly lets you use your imagination to what you would like best. If any game deserves to be called a gem, this one is certainly the most likely to deserve it.
Wow Very Well done
this game is freaking boss!! the sounds are very clear, very sharp. the graphics are also very sharp, vibrant, intense. the physics of the game change so much through every level that it is impossible to play a level the same way twice. all the different pickups in the game, like speed up/down, bigger/smaller size, little buddy brother creatures, just to name a few (there are tons of pickups i can't name them all, there are too many). there are even morning, midday, and midnight for each set of areas or sections, whatever you call them. and the obstacles you encounter, like movable slabs of solidness, spikes that fall and fall over, falling stones that can help and hurt you, band saws, crushing pistons, fans, meshing gears, spinning sword thingies... the list goes on forever. I have barely gotton past the morning part of day 1 and i really am saying that even though i've only played this for ten minutes that - whatever amount of money you've spent buying thos game (its on different deals and discounts all the time) - it was some of the best 1 to 3ish dollars you will ever spend on an app store game. i guarantee it.
Excellent, challenging game.
Badland is an excellent game that poses a good bit of challenge. It has a puzzle component that makes it sometimes require a bit of thought, but not overmuch to make it unfun.
The challenges sometimes require very precise control, and can be very frustrating, as if you miss one small piece in the beginning, the entire puzzle is ruined. I won't rank it down for this, though, because the developers provided a way to skip the most difficult sections if they're too hard.
The only reason it doesn't get five stars is that sometimes, it can be very hard to see what's going on. The level elements are completely black (with a few exceptions), and the backgrounds tend to be very dark. This helps to establish a visual mood for the game, but can be frustrating at times, when you can't see the piece that has a potential to kill you.
And I feel bad for how many clones I had to sacrifice. There is no way to save them all. 8(
All told, the game is tremendous fun, and I can't wait for Day III.
