All social media platforms today are organized in one way — by profiles. By organizing content this way, there are some limitations. One in particular is the messy and cluttered newsfeed and the other is that the user is unable to control what they want to see in their feed.

So how is Balloon Stories different? First, we organize content by conversations, which we call a balloon. These balloons acts as visual dynamic folders where you can add as members as you want to that conversation. Each member is then able to post into that balloon and all the members’ friends and follower are able to see all the collaborative content in that balloon.

We love seeing all the creative balloons you are coming up with. You can literally create a balloon for anything — your interests, hobbies, events, etc.

By organizing content into balloons, there are some very powerful things you can do on Balloon Stories, that you cannot do on any other platform.

1. You can collaborate easily on stories and conversations. You are no longer just tagging someone in a post.

2. You can follow and unfollow balloons based on what you want to see. You no longer have to follow an entire profile and see all the disparate content coming from that one profile.

3. You can have both public and private balloons on one platform. You have the ability to create different types of balloons based on who you want to see the conversation and who you want to participate in the conversation.

What's New

Version 1.4.1

We have four new improvements for you:
1) iOS Share Extension: You can now post and share to the Balloon app from outside the app. Enable 'Balloon' app from your Activity Share controller to start sharing to the balloon app from your other apps.

2) Comments: Comments on posts now uses the same interface as posts.

3) Fullscreen video player: You can now hide the video controllers by tapping the screen while playing the video. Tap again to display the controllers. These video controllers only appear if the video you are watching is longer than 15 seconds.

4) Personal postfeed: When you open a balloon by tapping on a post from your Personal Postfeed, it will open the balloon in the 'Posts' segment. Opening a balloon from your Home feed or the horizontal balloons list will open the balloon in the 'Overview' segment.

Very cool concept!

I'm new to Balloon and I already love it. After spending a few minutes on the app it's easy to see this is a very promising idea. Other social media platforms leave me feeling drained by the randomness of their newsfeeds (i.e. political rhetoric intermingled with cute dog photos). However, Balloon bypasses that randomness and allows me to connect with my friends based on common ideas and thoughts (or Balloons). This makes for a more genuine connection with other users, which is so refreshing. I'm looking forward to seeing this budding app blossom into something that challenges the current notions of social media.

More fun than other social apps for creating and sharing content

Great concept and well-built app. The collaborative stories with friends makes all the difference. It's very easy to control how you interact with friends and their content. It feels more natural than Facebook, Instagram, etc. because you can sort posts into public and private balloons and invite people to collaborate on or follow individual balloons as you see fit.

What an easy way to organize my social media!
