"The most thorough of all the music apps I've used." -- NPR Music

BandMate recommends live music events based on what you listen to. Find out when your favorite band is playing and, better yet, when your next favorite band is playing!

BandMate also let's you know when the bands you'll like have upcoming releases, so you can keep your music collection fresh!

BandMate uses the artists already on your device to suggest other bands you might like as well. It then searches through event listings in the city of your choice to create a personalized calendar of the shows that you'd want to see and the new albums you'll want to check out.

Each item even includes a score letting you know how strong the recommendation is.

And if you don't have the time to scan through listings, just pop on your earphones and Bandmate will generate a playlist for all your artists with upcoming shows in your town.

BandMate also gives you all the tools you need to find out more about each artist. BandMate makes it easy to:
• View recent and upcoming album releases for your artists and your recommended artists
• Don't keep music on your device? Import artists from iTunes Match, iTunes Playlists, Spotify, and Last.fm.
• watch the band's videos
• listen to the artist's music
• read the band's biography
• browse the artist's web site
• view recent and upcoming album releases for your artists and recommended artists
• purchase tickets
• view videos, pictures, bios, etc. for all artists on your device, even if they don't have any upcoming events
• listen to a playlist of all your bands with upcoming shows
• export a Spotify playlist (Spotify subscription may be required)
• share via email, Facebook, and Twitter
• track all the events at your favorite venues
• set a personal rating for each artist
• review the band's tour schedule
• explore the other artists in the event line-up as well as the "matched-on" artists for suggested events
• keep track of and organize your favorite events
• export to your calendar
• add artists not already on your Music collection
• turn off artists you don't want to include
• get a map and directions to the venue
• view all upcoming shows at a venue
• explore events in different cities — great for road trips.

Horrible App

This is horrible. Simply doesn’t work and they charge you for it!

Developer Response

Hi Stomper, please drop me an email at support@wellalright.com and I'll look into what may be causing the problem.

Won't even open

Rich Orman

I just bought this app (iOS 10 on my phone) and it won't even open. It crashes every time before opening. Complete waste of money. Stay away.

Developer Response

Please download the latest version of the app. There was a bug in this build that was resolved shortly after it was released. The current version should correct your issue. However, if you do need additional assistance or have any questions, please contact me at support@wellalright.com. Thank you!

Doesn’t work as I expected

I am a former user of the brilliant Shows app which was decommissioned and thought this was a suitable replacement. A few things don’t work as I’d expect.

First, there are no push notifications. I can’t be bothered to open the app on a regular basis to find out about shows, make the machine do that work for me. I’d pay for an in-app purchase or even a subscription type deal for that since I’ve missed countless shows since Shows app was offline since I can’t tell what is playing.

Second, it does not really show you your own artists’ shows, it pads that list with additional SIMILAR artists and there seems to be no way to filter that out despite the confusion tabs at the top of the list. I like Bat for Lashes, I hate Melissa Ethridge. Don’t try to guess, just show what I bloody listen to.

Third, the design is very poor, and I’m trying to be nice. The mixed font styles (serif and sans-serif) not to mention somewhat inconsistent UI could use a lot of polish and rethinking.

In all, this app has a lot of features but I personally don’t think most apply to me, although some might. Unfortunately the lack of notifications are really a requirement since I can just as easily go online and check for shows rather than use an app so it would be nice to be alerted. Also, the riffraff of “similar” artists is impossible to do away with and I can’t find the shows I’m interested (you know, the ones in my library).
