Totally useless app
I used to love this app before it was updated. The new update has made the app absolutely terrible and useless. It freezes constantly, when you try to scroll down to continue reading an article it switches to a new article. There are constant pop up ads that do not leave when the X is pushed. They pop up so often you can not even read 3 words of an article at a time before it pops up, and continues to pop up even after hitting the X. I used to enjoy reading the Bangor Daily News app daily, and now I can’t stand to read it due to all the bugs. Absolutely poor app development, completely useless. I would give it 0 stars if I could.
Absolutely the worst news app out there. The constant pop up ads are aggravating and ridiculous especially since they cover half of the screen, won't disappear when the x is selected and start playing videos randomly. And the "answer a survey before you can continue" every time you open it is bizarre beyond belief. Don't know what ding dongs signed off in this "improved" version at BDN but they deserve to lose their jobs. I would rather pay a nominal yearly fee for a good quality, working app that has absolutely no ads than put up with this lame excuse for "news". With each new version of their app the quality deteriorates exponentially!
Congratulations BDN. You have succeeded in turning me completely off your publication. The pop-ups that continuously appear, making it impossible to read more than three words before the next (and repeating) one invades, are the final straw. For a free app I can understand SOME ads however, if you patiently sit through one it constantly repeats itself until you close the ad. Repeat ad nauseum. Trying to scroll down only to be sent to the the next article instead and being unable to read the obits unless you are shot out of the app into the desktop version have also combined to make a completely annoying, unusable app.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
