Abandonware, last updated in 2015.
Blackboard hasn’t changed markedly since I attended college in the early 2000s (that’s almost two DECADES ago). The UI, the features (who uses “chat” anymore?), it’s all unintuitive and dated. The interface is painful to use on mobil devices, despite it being almost a decade since the introduction of the iPhone, which has now proliferated along with tablets.
I cannot use the grader effectively or access grade center on my tablet (iPad Pro), and this app supposedly makes it easier. Well, it doesn’t. It lacks features, an intuitive layout, and the control over grade center that I can get by using a laptop. Well, given that it hasn’t been updated since 2015, not particularly surprising.
This app is endemic of the rotting cancer that is Blackboard. It is the default LMS in many education systems and they have certainly rested on their laurels with their incumbent advantage. Time for them to be replaced by a more worthy competitor.
Video I'd awesome!
Our blackboard does not allow for audio and video to be connected to our grades, but this application does and it is fantastic! The ability to add video critiques to pinpoint specific areas or give some positive affirmations after a poor grade are excellent uses for this. While this app overall duplicates blackboard functionality, it really stands alone. Adding video and audio attachments really bolster my students with timely constructive criticism. I recommend this app to anyone who needs a more human touch in the classroom or online course shell.
I'm not a big fan of the Blackboard LMS to begin with, but this app is terrible. It is completely useless. My students submitted their papers and when I went to try to grade them it said it could not download the documents, therefore I could not even view the papers to be able to grade them. Then it gave me an option to open the file in another app, but when I chose to open it in Pages or Google docs the apps did not interface with each other, so still no document to read. The only thing this app allows me to do, when it's working, is see which students have submitted assignments and which ones haven't. That's it. If Blackboard doesn't step up its game, it's going to continue to lose market share exponentially.
