Description

Check out the latest film and DVD classification decisions from the BBFC. Whether you are at home, at the cinema or out and about, get detailed information about why the film or DVD you are thinking of seeing or buying got the classification it did.

All film classification decisions come with BBFCinsight that explains the issues and plot points in any film, enabling you to make informed decisions about what you or your family watch.

Recent film and DVD decisions are downloaded to the app from the BBFC database, subject to an internet connection and can be updated using the common "Pull to Refresh" feature. When offline however, the information downloaded stays on your device, making it fully accessible even if you are unable to get a signal at your local cinema.

Ratings and Reviews

Good parental guidance

frossie

For those not in the UK, the BBFC is the organisation that issues movie rating certifications in the UK. As a parent, I find these better than the US MPAA ratings. First, the BBFC is an independent body. Secondly their ratings are very well explained and are consistent across movies. A great deal of attention is spent on context; for example The King's Speech was rated 12A in the UK instead of the MPAA rating of R because the infamous F-word sequence was taken to be "in a speech therapy context". Bear in mind that since the rating explanations are very detailed, they are spoilers.

The app does exactly what you might think. Great for parents everywhere.
