Extremely fun, but would love a few small features to be productive.
I spent a good amount of time with BtBx on the plane recently. I was able to quickly get some really nice beats together, and the workflow is pretty good. The simplicity of controls is spot-on, and a few timbral controls - filter, reverse, pitch, and volume - make it so you can get some surprising variety in sounds. The addition of pulse and sawtooth wave add a great creative level that many other beat apps miss.
I've tried FunkBox, BeatMaker, and Molten, and I was most productive and happy with BtBx.
I'd be really really really happy with this if I could export a sequence as midi or wav file, copy a pattern from one bin to another, and (least important, but still important) show current time when in keyboard view. That's it. If I could do that, I'd be able to use this app as a really good sketch pad, then bring my work into another program like Ableton live to really bring this stuff to life. As it is, once I make it in BtBx, it's trapped forever in my device.
As a sequencer, I really like this. Once people figure out what Pattern mode does, this app can record 16 measures with 12 instruments playing on each. The only reason I gave 4 stars out of five is because of the instability and the lack of exporting. If we could export projects through wifi as a MIDI file or WAV file this would be five stars. Also, the synths should have some sustain and not just be short blips.
Love this app
I was able to figure this out without instructions (it was quite fun experimenting). Now i'm a sequencing fool, this app is highly flexible and great sounds. 5-stars when they fix the crashing, i got this for free but i'll pay for a stable version.
