Very basic - many better alternatives

Dark Horse (NB)

The GUI is familiar but that is where it ends. The GUI is a poor design and the layout is truly rather clumsy. As a free app, it comes with 2 beat choices, that's it. All additional beat choices are $1.99/each. You also won't get any support for realistic drums etc. No support for midi, no support for InterAudio, no support for Audiobus 2 or 3, no support for playing in the background. Basically no support to integrate with any other apps. It's free today, glad I didn't pay for this one!

Buggy/Unpolished

AlloutaMe

Pro

- The sample kits are nice. I wish more music app makers would SAMPLE synths like this app has and allow us to make use of step sequencers

- It has a multi track step sequencer

- Large library

Con

- App is completely unpolished. Simple things like the play button not glowing when the song is playing. This goes for all the transport buttons

- Step sequencer does not register changes until the song is stopped and restarted. Also plays "phantom steps" when changes are made on the fly.

- Can not solo 2 tracks at the same time, then record. As soon as you leave the mixer view all tracks resume playing.

- Low quality textures. Say what you will, but it's nice to look at something that.........looks nice.

- Crashed twice in an hour on iPad Mini.

- No copy paste for step sequencer

- No 'lasso' to select multiple notes in a sequence to copy/erase.

- No 'save' button. I think the app auto saves but I'm not sure, and I don't know if I'll ever find out.

It's a shame that this app was rushed out, and more of a shame that it got my money. I love the concept of a multi track step sequencer with quality kits and synth samples to build your song. Due to the lack of polish, lack of effects, and lack of good export options, this app should be .99 or even free.

I would pay $20+ for someone to build an app like this with effects and the polish of DM1, and I'm certain that I would not be the only one willing to do so.

Almost Hitting Delete....

I might be in the minority here, or maybe I am just strange... But, pads are useless to me unless labeled. I want to enjoy your app, it has all the trappings for a good one. Thus, I have been storing it on my iPad in a folder dubbed "Waiting."

That being said, odd or not, I do some semi-professional scoring and soundtracking, (as well as hobbyist music production), so I can't be that inept. I am just a visual artist and person. My full time gig is Photography (pets, creative, nature, weddings) if that explains it... Perhaps it is just not very germane to this review, but the point being is that the pads must be labeled, like they usually are on drumpad apps.

Until then, it will be in my "waiting" folder. Who knows, maybe it isn't an odd request and others feel the same. I am not stupid, but I do need visual labels,as I get lost in making music. It is like an anchor for the more imaginative people who lose themselves in their work like i do.

I am not that old, it isn't a memory issue, I just need the reference, or i will close it and go to my other drum apps that have labeled pads. But, you have promise here, hence why i am writing this review. 5 stars upon this "fix.".

Also, it has been awhile since I have really attempted to to use your app, please have copy/paste, if you don't already. But, labels are most important for me and will get the 5 for you.
