Does Not Disappoint
I have Bejeweled 1 and 2 and also play Bejeweled Blitz from time to time, so I was excited when I saw they finally released Bejeweled 3. I was ready for something different with this version, and it did not disappoint. I love the brilliant colors and graphics and all of the new levels and ways to play. This version has the best game modes and levels, and though I had read on here that someone was complaining it was not available in full screen, it certainly is! You just have to choose that in options. The voice of the man announcing your accomplishments throughout the game is so interesting. Every time I hear him saying "Awesome! Fabulous! Excellent!" I keep thinking of Darth Vader for some reason. What an interesting voice this guy has. But the game itself is so colorful and breaks out of the old boring mode of limited play levels. It is so funny to earn badges and see all of the spectacular graphics changing for different modes and levels. I think they've really knocked one out of the park with this version. I have a 27-inch Mac and I cannot get over how beautiful everything looks and how clear it all is. It is like a high def Bejeweled - everything is so smooth and clear! I installed without a hitch and I've been playing for about an hour and a half now and it works like a charm. I am loving this version and I highly recommend it to any true Bejeweled fan. It's just as addictive as the other versions, only better.
I've seen this game at the top of the mac app store charts for some time now, I've read all the glowing reviews (on this site & others), but I just couldn't see paying 20 bucks for what is essentially a match 3 game. When this went on sale for 10 bucks, I held my breath and clicked buy. I instantly thought, 'I'm going to regret this…'. WOW, was I wrong, after opening the game and playing 2 hours straight, seeing how much content Popcap managed to pack into a match 3 game….and the beautiful graphics….and the wonderful music/sound effects….I just had to post a review. I've never been a fan of these kind of games (more of a RTS, TD fan at heart), but took a chance because of all the positive press tied to Bejeweled, and it is much better then I could have imagined. The way it takes a basic puzzle game premise, adds a very professional visual & audio presentation, and finally through its varied gameplay modes adds a layer of strategy that makes Bejeweled 3 the best of its kind with immense crossover appeal. While I still don't think I'd pay 20 bucks for this (my rule is never to spend more then 5 bucks for a download, due to the lack of a physical product with the options and support that come with a physical copy), I broke my own rule and paid 10 thanks to the temptation of a sale price and don't regret it for a second. Great quality with hours of entertainment value.
Pop Cap always seems to make their games "fun". I wasn't sure what else could be done for Bejeweled, but the mini games they've added are great. For example, in one game making a vertical match colors that "column" gold. Making a horizontal match colors that "row" gold. You have to completely color the entire grid gold in 2 min (I think that's right). I didn't think I could do it, but I did! That's not even one of the more inventive games… most have time limits, a cap on the number of moves, or special gems that you have to match to remove from the board. That sort of makes it sound a little mundane, but it really isn't, and there are others mini games that don't fit into any of those categories. Honestly, I've just gotten into the game, and have only unlocked a couple of modes… the point is that it is "fun" and so far perfectly executed, no glitches and a beautiful interface / sound. Really glad I bought it.
