Play more than one note at a time, chords and even complete octaves with one finger. Choose your play style based on your mood – ring or tap. Your bell spectral set ups are automatically saved for quick future encore concerts.
SIMPLE TO PERFORM
Easily ring bells like a Master, just tap or swing your device. Breeze through the “How To” screens to discover bell ringing tips. With “Be Quick” mode, all your notes are pre-assigned in the key of C, more than 2 octaves for the iPhone/iPod Touch and 6 octaves for the iPad. Create your own music, perform for others – ring a solo, a duet or a trio. Play an impromptu concert ANYTIME . . . ANYWHERE.
EXPANSIVE COLLECTION OF 74 BELLS, RANGING FROM C2 TO C8
This is the largest range of rich, pure handbell tones available for the App Store. Contrast 13 tables, 26 pads, several trucks full of cases and 74 bells with the small space that mobile devices occupy in your hand. Hear the ping of the high C8 with the gong of the low C2 simultaneously.
REAL HANDBELL FEATURES
You have precise control over sustaining a note (allowing the sound to die naturally) or dampening a note (stopping the sound instantly). In a handbell choir, bells are often re-arranged in a unique order advantageous for a particular piece; this concept has been perfected, allowing you to ring or tap an entire song without breaking tempo. Utilizing multi-touch allows multiple bells to be rung with ease. Bell Spectrum transforms your device into the closest thing to a real bell.
The minimal price of this App buys you $60,000 worth of bells and their necessary equipment.
Potential side effects of enjoying this App:
- Picking up good tintinnabulations
- Learning to read music
- Forgetting that your device is not a real bell
Belltastic ballads by both bell beginners and bronze bellmasters

What's New in Version 2.0
Major Update for Christmas!
A Songbook of Christmas tunes is now available for you to play with your handbells.
This new mode, found on the Title Screen, guides you through songs by highlighting the pre-assigned spectrals (buttons), allowing you to easily tap out these carols. Perform concerts without sheet music or musical experience. Classics like "Angels We Have Heard on High", "Jingle Bells", and "Joy to the World" are just a few of the fun choices available.
I love that this includes a full 6 octaves, and with a few added features it could be great, but there are a few things I'd love to see. Numbers 1 & 2 are really needed for this to be useful.
1) The ability to save multiple bell layouts, rather than choosing from new or last used!!! After reading the description I was really expecting this!
(Another review mentioned a director using this to play missing parts, but for groups where the ringers change positions frequently you would need to reprogram the layout for each song, which wouldn't be practical).
2) Creating a new layout would be so much easier if there was a way to have the labels (e.g. B5, C6) entered automatically. Having to type these makes setting up a layout take way too long.
Optional features that would add a lot:
-the ability to add your own songs to the songbook for someone else to play.
-the ability to see all bells in songbook mode and have the correct one light up, so you could also improvise.
Not sure if its a bug or I'm doing something wrong, but when I went into songbook mode it automatically opens up in tap and there was no way to choose the swing option.
When you touch a bell, it should CONTINUE to ring! This thing, you must continue to hold your finger o the key until its long decay is over, an extremely unattural way to play a bell! When you manage to get any sound out of this thing, the lovely bell sound cuts off abruptly! Then there is this funny grid that pops up after the message "bells up", a bunch of funny holes with a big yellow check mark, and it does not do anything! If this app is going to be any use, the developers really need to make it more logical and accessible. Just let me play with the bells for heavensake!
Fun and tuneful
Really enjoy this creative and tuneful app. As a former handbell ringer it's great to have a chance to experience ringing again. The Christmas tunes are fun and easy. More tunes please! It will take a little time to figure out how to set up my own bells to ring other music, but I'm looking forward to learning how it works.
