One is Great but Two you'll Hate
I bought one A2 and it sounds and performs great. For the price, there is nothing comparable on the market. One A2 (in ambient mode) fills the room nicely. Then I bought a second A2 to 'pair in stereo' and this is when things went wrong on many different levels. You have to pair them every single time you use them and they usually don't pair so they give an Error: "true wireless pairing timed out." Even if you reset the phone, reset the connections to each speaker, they fail to pair 60% of the time. When they do somehow pair together, they sound great but it's way too much trouble to 'hope they'll connect' each time you use them. Note: all firmware and software is current and B&Os tech support is aware of this issue but hasn't solved it (yet). Simply put, this is one case where monogamy is better than a ménage!
Needs updates like crazy!
I know that B and O's forte is not software, but I would think that before they pushed the Beoplay app, they would have tested it to make sure that it had more than just the basic functionality to connect to the speakers and change some of the parameters.
For example, I would expect the app to automatically detect whether it was connected via Bluetooth or audio cable to the source; or provide the capability to select the input (Bluetooth or cable) and automatically adjust the speakers; or to set up a stereo configuration from the app whether connected via Bluetooth or cable. Since there is software on the speakers, I would think that this would be possible and also to update the software on the speakers via Bluetooth.
But I may be asking for too much.
A black eye for B & O
The B & O app side of the company is clearly in over their heads and I'm about ready to abandon their products all together. What a mess and customer service is practically unresponsive. Like one reviewer said, trying to keep two products paired in stereo is a real pain, and is a nightmare if you have more than one device taking control at different times. I will just have to hardwire them, which undermines the advantage of bluetooth. I recommend the company starts over. One working app for all the products. In sum, stay away from B & O bluetooth products.
