Aesthetic & intuitive, but not practical
Let me start off by noting that in traditional fashion, B&O have designed an app that is both aesthetic and intuitive. I never realized how drastically the EQ settings alter the sound until I sat down with this app and started playing around with it. Furthermore, it is incredibly easy to use and just about anybody could figure it out.
My real issue with the app stems from the fact that it only actively adjusts your EQ if the app is open on your phone. Most of the time that I’m using my B&O headphones, I’m on the go or utilizing my phone for work (resulting in me closing the app). This aspect of the app makes it very impractical and I find that I don’t use the it nearly as much as I would otherwise.
Hopefully B&O updates the app in order to make it work whether you’re inside or outside of the app.
So I have been wearing the BEO PODS for just over three months. During which time I’ve had to dump, then re-install the app approximately to 15 times (at least twice a week)! For headphones that sound so good... what happened?!?! Why and what went so wrong or so bad that I can’t even get a good consistent connection? I have an iPhone 8+ and it seems to work fine for about a day or two (at most) but soon as the battery gets low, you have to dump the app, file and everything; forget the device and then back to square 1... Reload everything from the beginning as a new set. I expected better from a company so good.
Now I’m stuck with a crappy set of headphones I love to listen to but hate to wear!!!! I guess that’s what happens when you rush to market and rush a product.
What a Black eye for the brand and their reliability!
Continued Bugs with Beoplay 8
App cannot seem to detect when the device is connected via Bluetooth to you iPhone or iPad, continually asking you to connect, even when the connection is made. Update also impossible to download and results in repeated message that the connection with the device has been lost (note: attempted a dozen times on three separate devices with the same outcome).
However, when one can (on those rare occasions) get connected without long bouts of fiddling, the ability to customize the sound quality gives these earbuds a leg up. B&O needs to give serious consideration to replacing their application quality assurance team, as the silly bugs with the app is surely wrecking the reputation of what would otherwise be an excellent product.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
