The Best version of "History of Herodotus" with full text search!!!
Herodotus was an ancient Greek historian who lived in the 5th century BC (484 BC - 425 BC). He was born in Caria, Halicarnassus (Modern day Bodrum, Mugla, Türkiye).
He is regarded as the "Father of History" in Western culture. He was the first historian known to collect his materials systematically, test their accuracy to a certain extent and arrange them in a well-constructed and vivid narrative.
He is exclusively known for writing The Histories, a record of his "inquiries" into the origins of the Greco-Persian Wars which occurred in 490 and 480-479 BC-especially since he includes a narrative account of that period, which would otherwise be poorly documented; and many long digressions concerning the various places and peoples he encountered during wide-ranging travels around the lands of the Mediterranean and Black Sea.

Essentially paid $5 for a free e-book
I am not enough of a classical scholar to know which translation was used - nor do the app developers mention this in the notes, which are essentially just a link to Wikipedia page on Herodotus. I like the way it is laid out into the separate books, but there is severely limited navigation. I can't set bookmarks, nor can I highlight, and when I reopen the app it defaults to the start of the book so I constantly lose my place. I was under the impression that this app might have embedded links to some of the ancient history encyclopedia sites such as the Perseus Digital Library but it doesn't. Essentially I could have downloaded this for free on Wattpad or Gutenberg but paid for an app that gave me an underperforming reading platform.
