Great finance app!!!!!
First of all, you can't rate an app on its looks. It is crazy that people are rating this app low because they took the color out! The app is clean, to the point, and has been making me money from the start! I think it looks good the way it is. I never saw ANYTHING in the description of this app that said "get this, you will be blown away by the way it looks". This app is here to help your financial future not decorate your phone!! Keep up the good work! The app is great and is appreciated by most.
App good, design bad.
Betterment as a service is great. This is a review of their new design, which is horrible. It's led by the most boring, uninformative icon ever. The greyscale isn't befitting of Betterment and, while it can work for other services, just isn't working. While I like the fonts used objectively (brings to mind old newspapers) it still doesn't hit home with a modern, robo-investing brand. If anything, shouldn't Betterment move away from stodgy old school? The update feed is clean though.
New design lackluster
The new betterment theme is very spartan and dry compared to the previous blue and white theme. Where the previous version looked like a nice modern 21st century app, the current app looks like it took a huge step backwards. Functionally it works just as well as previous versions, but it has me questioning the judgement of the dev team: rather than spending time improving app functionality e.g. adding graphs to the mobile app, they chose to revamp design.
