BetterSnapTool allows you to easily manage your window positions and sizes by either dragging them to one of the screen's corners or to the top, left or right side of the screen. This enables you to easily maximize your windows, position them side by side or even resize them to quarters of the screen.

If you need even more than those standard snap areas BetterSnapTool now allows you to create your own, custom snap areas anywhere on your display.

To be even more productive you can also set custom keyboard shortcuts in order to move and resize your windows.

Because there are so many positions available, BetterSnapTool can also pop up an overview menu from which you can select the one position you want.

You can also customize what happens after right-clicking on one of the buttons on the top left of a window.

More features included are:
• move or resize the window below the cursor while holding customizable modifier keys.
• select what happens when double-clicking a windows's titlebar

BetterSnapTool is very customizable and will change the way you work with your Mac!

It supports multiple monitors, hidden docks etc..
You can change the design of the preview overlays and even set application specific snapping sizes!

BetterSnapTool works with almost every application, only some apps with non-standard windows can't be supported.

I'm always open for new ideas, so don't hesitate and ask!

Best thing since sliced bread

I love this app and there aren’t many times I will say that about. I installed and started using it immediately, I didn’t restart my computer for a week until a software update was due. When my computer started back up I went to use a corner and nothing happened! I had a moment of panic then realized my dumb self didn’t set it to auto launch whenever the computer starts up. Now that it is enabled I will continue to use this program forever. It is without a doubt one of the best improvments to be made to finder for those of us who use our macs professionally. I deal with document imaging and work in remote locations for clients where all I get is my MBPR display for a screen. This makes the most out of a laptop screen when you don’t have the luxury of having multiple displays. Even when at home and I plug into my displays I still find it very valuable. Apple should buy this program up and make it standard and hire the developer. Forget a visusal pretty change to OSX in the future, do things like this and make it more usable for people who work on a computer all day!

Exceeded expectations after years of wondering why we do not have this!

In addition to window moving/snapping between monitors, the move/resize window under mouse by holding a key (in the “Extra" tab) is essential (got hooked on this from using Linux/UNIX, but it is so useful for me to move/resize windows witout moving the mouse up to click on the menu bar).

Requests for future enhancements:
- Add a check box in the “Keyboard Shortcuts” tab to allow toggling between two options if they have the same shortcut defined. For example if I specify command-Right arrow for all window positions then it should simply toggle the window around the screen through all top/bottom/left/right/full-screen positions (similar to Windows 7/8 up arrow hotkey but this app is of course much better).
- Also allow me to define multiple shortcuts for each option so I can have one shortcut defined for all options to toggle the window around if I am too tired to remember.
- Add option to make the Move or Resize work with two finger click on the track pad so I can hold the same key (Alt for example) and just click one or two fingers to move or resize a window.

Thank you Andreas and please don’t ever stop supporting this app! :) It is great that you use your name instead of a company name.

Most used app on my computer

It does work great right out of the box, but if you invest a few minutes to learn about everything it can do you won’t be sorry. Custom snap areas for certain programs and/or workflows, keyboard shortcuts to quickly move the window to the next monitor (& back), etc.

I’ve used others (including the more “full featured” offering from this author) but have never found something that “just works” without fouling up something else.

** Update **

I was intrigued that an app with 338 (at time of writing) 5 star reviews would still have a handful of 1 star reviews. Sorting by “Most Critical” actually only brings up one 1 star review which seems to have no relation to this software (I’ve never seen a pop-up on this software - ever). There is a 2 - star review that complains that it doesn’t work with multiple monitors. As someone who also has multiple multi-monitor setups (2 at home, 3 at work) I can assure you that it does work. I use keyboard shortcuts for most positioning other than maximizing, but if you want to snap to the corners and sides of multiple monitors you need to increase the snap area a bit so you don’t have to get it exactly to the edge of the monitor & risk going onto the next one.
