BIABCalc is a simple app to quickly calculate how much and how hot your water should be.
With brewing in a bag, you want to mash with as much water as possible, to end up with as much wort, because you aren't sparging.
Most calculators use your ideal mash thickness to calculate how much water to use- this shows you the maximum amount of water to heat up without running over once you put the grain in.
This application will also calculate how hot your strike water should be to hit your mash temperature.
What's New in Version 2.4
I accidentally removed the ability to use metric (d'oh!). This update adds it back in.
This app is simple to use and does just what I needed. Strike temps are right on. My volume is always 2 qts off. Not sure if its my pot (more likely) or the app. Doesn't matter though, I just reduce the pot size by 2 qts and it works perfectly.
Effective BIAB tool
No more guess work for me when brewing in a bag. These calculations are accurate. Because of my kettle size I do have to sparge my grain to bring my wort up to the six gallons I want to boil, but that is easy to do.
I wish I had found BIAB calc sooner
I am definitely going to use for my next batch. My previous batch was sub optimal because I mashed at too high a temperature not knowing how much to compensate for the grain temp and amount.
