Great tool BUT
I was so excited when I found this Bible study tool on line. I kind of wish I hadn't installed the app though because it's not nearly as user friendly as the actual site. I wanted the app because I didn't want to have to type in the site address every time I wanted to access the site but the app is so limited in its use compared to the site. In the site it gives options that the app doesn't give. Also when I selected my Bible and then went on to select my study plan I began to realize the version for the Bible study plan was not the version I selected as my Bible. This is extremely frustrating because I am trying to follow along with my husband and when the versions are not the same it makes it hard to follow along and keep up because it reads different. I have tried to figure out how to fix this problem but apparently there isn't a way to do so. If your not trying to follow along with someone this might be an awesome app for you but if you are please be aware that just because you select as pacific Bible doesn't mean the study plan you choose will be using that same version. Also on my iPad I noticed it won't let me change my screen direction from vertical to horizontal. It also breaks it down verse by verse rather than reading like it does in the Bible. That part really doesn't bother me as much as the other problems. Don't get me wrong the app is good but it's just not very user friendly.
Needs Significant Work
I downloaded the app because every day when I open the website to do my Bible reading on my iPad I need to re-log in (a nuisance, but not a showstopper). I've had the app for a few days which recognizes me from my previous log in, but the interface is not intuitive and doesn't provide many tools. I have not been able to find a way to change the version I'm reading for my Bible study (I think it's NIV). There are no references to books or chapter in the study...the verses just go in order with no way of knowing which chapter, or even book, the verses are from. The font is tiny and I haven't seen a way to change it. There are almost no options under the option menu (other than changing the theme color). Overall, this looks like it was released before it was fully developed. I don't recommend downloading this now, but will watch for updates to see if it improves.
I really liked this app at first, but at this point I'm done with it. In January I decided to read through the bible this year so I searched apps for reading plans. I've been consistently working through old and New Testament with their Thematic reading plan which has worked really well for me. There are a few things that are irritating about this app, including the ridiculous pop ups as soon as you open the app (promoting Obama healthcare??). The kicker was this morning when I opened up to do my daily reading, and much to my dismay, my progress has been wiped out and put me back to the beginning so that it looks like I'm only 2 weeks in. Genesis and Matthew?? I'm in Leviticus and 2 Corinthians! From what I can tell, there's no way to recover my progress. This app has proven to be worthless.
