BioAid is a research hearing aid designed by hearing scientists. It works by processing sound from the microphone and then playing it back over headphones in real time. The processing is designed to enhance sound clarity and regulate the loudness of ambient noise. BioAid is unique by virtue of using new audio processing techniques inspired by recent scientific developments in our understanding of the biology of hearing.
To start using BioAid, you don't need a hearing test. Instead, you are invited to try a wide range of different settings to discover which one suits you best. Choose between different settings appropriate to common types of hearing impairment. You also have control of the overall sound level and can vary the rejection level of background sounds.
BioAid is free. Download it and begin exploring its potential immediately!
More information can be found at www.bioaid.org.uk. Tell us what you think. Your opinions matter to us and will help to shape the next generation of biologically inspired hearing aids.
BioAid can be used with any kind of headphones or earpieces, but you will need to use insertable earbuds that block out external sounds to fully benefit from the 'loudness control' features.
App now stores settings between sessions.

Musicians dream hearing aid
Just need to get the Fall 2018 updated so that it works with new ios.
Yes the tutorial is long. But well worth it. Audiologists and friends have been impressed. Most importantly musicians find usuall hearing aides too focused on speaking, so natural sound of highs and lows is lost. Bioaid sounds natural. thanks Nick Clark ! Cheers !
Been using this for some time, now. Went for a hearing test and the Audiologist was impressed. I knew what works, from tinkering with Bioaid, and the testing confirmed it. With a balance slider, this would be even better.
Need built in mike switch
Can you configure it so that it picks up using the microphone in the phone rather than that on the headphones? Another similar app (Petralex) is able to do so. This allows the option of placing the microphone closet to the source.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
