About Bleach Bypass:

Fotosyn Bleach Bypass applies the Bleach Bypass effect to your images. A popular visual style in movies and TV, Bleach Bypass is used to enhance atmospheric effect through desaturated colour, heavy vignetting and contrast.

The term 'Bleach Bypass' principally refers to the development process of colour film, with the skipping of the bleaching process that removes the silver in the film emulsion. This results in a contrasty, desaturated image.

Fotosyn Bleach Bypass features 13 adjustable effects including Cinematic, Extreme, Monohint, Blush, Breeze, Verve, Nostalgia and new in 2.0, Vintage and Muted.

Cinematic, Extreme and Monohint reduce saturation and increase contrast at varying levels, while Blush, Breeze, Verve, Nostalgia and Rustic add shifts in colour. Vintage and Muted deepens tones and colours for an overall moody effect.

All effects can be used with or without vignette and there are a choice of borders including Light, Dark and Retro.

Fotosyn Bleach Bypass uses geolocation data for your images through the camera, and retains this data after processing. Any EXIF data within the image is also retained.

Customer Reviews

Oldie but Goodie!

An oldie but a goodie.
I've had this app since it debuted in the App Store, and honestly, I had kind of forgotten about it. Then, I was catching up on the Combo Apps website (great site for app ideas and reviews, BTW), and saw that this app had had a facelift, so I decided to check it out again. It's a great little app. It's solid and I like the customizable frame width and vignette options. It's nothing fancy, but, hey! It's free!
A couple suggestions:
1. I'm not sure why there is the option to adjust your vignette and frame, yet not the filter intensity. I think that option would really improve the app overall.
2. I want to be able to see my original photo! I need a comparison option. This is my biggest complaint, and a personal pet peeve!

Despite those two things, this is a fun, simple, free option to give your photos a little character and distinctive quality. You can't go wrong with free either way.

I recommend giving this one a try!

I've watched this app grow since its infancy, and I am pleased with the developer's obvious interest and "TLC" with this app.

If you're looking for an app with tons of flashy frames, pre-packaged filters, fonts, and the like, this app may NOT be for you.

Personally, I prefer quality over quantity and obviously a photo bleach app is not going to provide me with all my editing needs, but it's a powerful tool in my arsenal and I know the developer backs it and believes in it (you will quickly figure this out with any app)!

This application is solid, saves in full res., and has not crashed on me once. The developer is always willing to assist when/if needed. For me, that puts this app on the top of my list, but "bleach (bypass) apps are obviously focused on ONE particular style! Looking for more is like complaining about a paint-simulator; or an HDR app not providing more retro or grunge options!

If this is not what you are wanting then I would suggest something with more frames and filters and effects, etc., like filtermania and many others like it.
This fills an overlooked niche, and I am extremely happy with this app's progress over this last year!

Version 1:

The app is simple, as is the concept. There are approximately 7 filters, all various forms of "bleaching, similar to desaturation. I don't know why it took so long for someone to create such a user friendly simple bleaching concept (there are 1-2 out there whose name(s) I shall not mention - that are less than stellar by comparison..!).
A HUGE benefit to this app is its ability to save in full res. That is major for me.
