Imagine a world where you can browse your favorite news and entertainment websites without being bombarded by the over-exposed celebrities, talking heads, and blowhards who detract from your time and attention. Keep the people you care about in focus, while blocking the ones you'd rather avoid with Blockem.
Blockem allows you to protect your time and attention by blocking links, images and content about specific public figures from the websites you read everyday.
Take control of your media browsing with Blockem.
HOW IT WORKS
Blockem uses the latest Content Blocking capabilities in iOS 9 to allow you to select specific public figures that you'd rather not see as much of when browsing the web. When you select to 'Block' a person from the available list in the app, many photos, links and stories about these people will simply disappear from the sites you visit most frequently using Safari or the embedded web browser in many native apps. You can Unblock people at any time if you decide you would like to see more news and stories about them.
Blockem has an algorithmically selected list of public figures to block and is continuously updating the list. Some of the public figures you currently have the ability to block include The Kardashians, The Jenners, Kanye West, Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, Demi Lovato, Iggy Azalea, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Scarlett Johansson, and Selena Gomez.
Leave a review to tell us who else you'd like to be able to block.
LIMITATIONS: Blockem is intended for entertainment purposes only. The blocking technology used in the application has been tested on a limited number of websites, and does NOT block ALL of the target content on ALL websites. Content Blocking may also affect the display/layout of some non-targeted content. The publisher makes no warranties as to the effectiveness or potential for the application to cause unintentional behaviors in websites. Content Blocking should be temporarily disabled in Settings > Safari > Content Blocking if you believe it is interfering with your browsing experience. Blockem only works with with the Mobile Safari web browser in iOS 9 and later versions. It may also work in native apps that use the Safari Webkit for web browsing. It is known NOT to work in native apps such as Facebook for iOS and Twitter for iOS.
Note: unlike Kardblock for Chrome, Blockem works only with Safari.

👎🏻 WAY TOO EXPENSIVE 👎🏻
After you get your hopes up ... then you discover that you can't block anybody at all until you pay a hefty price. The cost is 99 cents for the first person .. or $1.99 for 3 people .. or $2.99 for 5 people .. or $9.99 for "unlimited" ... BUT 'UNLIMITED" IS ONLY 16 PRE-DETERMINED PEOPLE!! You can download the app for free .. but you can't use it or see if it works properly until you pay. In my opinion the developer has made a huge marketing error by over-reaching with the fees .. they should have offered a free trial period (at least) .. and lower the price dramatically unless you eliminate the limit of 16 pre-determined names and allow the users to block any names and words they choose. Back to the drawing board .. this app is on the right track with filtering annoying peeps .. but the execution is bound to be a big stumble.
Thank you AppFlume for for ridding my news reading of these useless examples of vanity and superficiality. My iPad thanks you too. All the negative reviewers that won't pay a buck to delete the Kardashians from their lives get what they pay for. Best dollar I ever spent. Seriously, thank you. I bought a 3 pack and got rid of Kanye too. I have one left and will use it wisely I promise. Please people, it's only $.99 to show these idiots who's the boss. You are.
Due to a mix of desperation to get rid of all news Kardashian, and curiosity to see if the app really worked, I stupidly paid for the "credits", that this not so free app makes you pay for in order to block a celebrity. I couldn't wait to see if it worked, and got on Twitter, it hadn't! I did everything from logging in and out of my Twitter, to restarting my phone, but after a couple scrolls my Twitter feed was still littered with Kardashians! So now I'm out the money and still forced to see the ridiculousness that is the Kardashians!! 😡 Good app in theory, if it actually worked it could be the greatest invention of all time!
