Has potential, but needs improvement

I like that it’s more customizable than other readers, but there are a couple things that annoy me.
1) Every other reader I’ve used, when you leave the app and come back.. it brings you directly to the book you were reading. This app brings you to the library instead. I know I can just press ‘now reading’, but it’s an unnecessary step. Once you’re in the middle of a book, odds are high the you’re gonna continue reading that book!
2) the app hangs frequently! I can be reading and flipping thru the pages, when all the sudden it doesn’t respond. Swipe, swipe.. nothing. It’s not the iPad because I can switch apps and do whatever else I want while the app is hung. This happens on multiple newer devices. If you give it 10 seconds or so it seems to come back, but it’s pretty ridiculous. The app has one purpose and that’s to display text. It has all kinds of time to have the next page ready while I’m reading the current page ** added note here, when it hangs it always seems to be at the end of a chapter
3) this is minor, but with all the freedom you have to pick your background and text color.. you don’t have the freedom to pick a highlight color. I had found an interesting color combo, went to highlight something and it didn’t highlight because of my color scheme
4) also minor, when dealing with RGB color selection, I’m used to seeing 0-255.. but for some reason this app uses 0-100.

Arrival Rocks!

It s nice to see (well sort of) that I m not the only one who has/had problems with finding that one particular mate. I never thought about casting a spell to lead me to her, then again I don t have three friends that are close to me either.

Lucky for you -that the four in the book capture your imagination- turning yours and mine fingers into page turners, while their story unfolds like a movie. One of the characters is a practicing Wiccan, while the others just employ that special magical style that all women have. They all agree to try to cast a spell to change their luck with finding mates. From that point on: they and you are no longer one Earth/Terra/Sol 3 (whatever you call your home planet), {I would place the world on which they landed as being 6 or so spacial co-ordinates down either the Tau or Teh axis using N-Dimensional Mathematics} the best way to figure this planet is: if it s a myth here, they have them there. By the same token you ll find other creatures that can make your worst nightmares seem tame.

If you like strong heroines in Science Fiction/Fantasy novels, this is a good read. I look forward to reading the next book (especially since the author left the book end as a cliffhanger). If this is going to be a serial, it promises to be an amazing one!

Good light-weight e-reader

Bluefire Reader is a pretty simple e-reader that covers all of the basic features, and works nicely.

As with most other readers, it can connect to cloud storage (e.g., for downloading e-books), bookmark content, highlight text, and add annotations. It also has the ability to organize books into collections, which is handy if you have a lot of books.

It isn’t as sophisticated as e.g. Marvin, which may be an issue depending on how you engage with the content. For instance, Bluefire doesn’t allow different colors or bookmarks or highlights, nor does it make it easy to copy selected text into an annotation (this is a several step process). That said, it does automatically date notes, and allow sorting them by date or location.

The free version doesn’t appear to have any intrusive advertisements or visual impairments, which is nice.

Personally, I’d like to see some more features, and especially in terms of organizing, sharing, and synchronizing annotations. But I’m also probably not the typical user here, in that I mostly read non-fiction for work and education, and take careful notes in the process. If you’re just reading e.g. ePubs casually then the features here should suit you perfectly fine.
