Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Update: With the latest iOS 4.1 release, Bluetooth track controls now work for iPhone without Bluetooth Helper. If your headphones only have a working Play/Pause button, or you don't want to install iOS 4.1, then read on!
Would you like to skip tracks using your iPhone's Bluetooth, without any additional hardware?
Using only the Play/Pause button, Bluetooth Helper lets you skip tracks on any Bluetooth accessory that can already Play and Pause your iPhone or iPod Touch!
There are no other compatibility requirements! Just be aware that this app only works to skip tracks on the main iPod app, and unfortunately cannot work with other 3rd party apps.
If your accessory can reliably Play and Pause the phone, Bluetooth Helper will work for you.
While music is playing and Bluetooth Helper is open, simply Pause and then Play your music again within 3 seconds. Once that 3 second timer expires, it will skip to the next track. If you want to adjust the Sequence Time to make the process quicker or slower, you can do that in the Settings app.
The app needs to be running in the foreground for you to use the track control features, but it works with the screen locked as well.
There's no need to plug any new hardware into your phone -- Simply pair your Bluetooth accessory with your iPhone as you normally would, and open Bluetooth Helper.
Current iPhone software supports Play/Pause over Bluetooth, but not Next Track, Previous Track, Seek Forward, or Seek Backward. With Bluetooth Helper, now you can do it all!
It may take a couple attempts to get familiar with the timing (read the tips first!) but with Bluetooth Helper, you get the Bluetooth control functions you need and desire!
What's New in Version 2.01
Fixed rare but annoying bug, where under certain circumstances the app would keep prompting for feedback.
Doesn't work with my Southwing SA505's
Update number 2--after some emails and pratice, I have this program working. As I said customer support is great and now that I have this working, it is great. Takes pratice. When you start, set the sequence time to 10 seconds go to the instructions page and slowly press the button. You will see the line moving and how many clicks you do. I have I set as 2 for forward and 3 for back in a 3 second sequence. Took a minute but once you get it done--easy! $19 for the headphones, $.99 for the program, wireless tunes while I run--great (no thanks to apple)!
Update--great customer support! I sent an email to these folks letting them know I was having trouble. Within 24 hrs I have recieved 2 replys with questions on setup and ideas to try. I give them 5 stars for actually listening to the people that bought their program. I will look for more.
Bought to use with my Southwing SA505's. Tried changing the settings with no luck.
In hind sight it would have been nice to have a couple of day trial to see if it worked before I bought. Also an email to contact to get tech support would be nice--just ideas for the developer.
bluetooth helper help
I got motorola S9-HD a bluetooth stereo head set it works wonderful with my 3rd gen. ipod touch. I only had one issue I could not skip songs useing the head set forward and reverse buttons i would always need to unlock my ipod and skip songs.I have the same head set for my blackberry and those features work flawless. I did find the BLUTOOTH HELPER app in itunes read the reviews and took a gamble. I could not get it to work for the life of me the buttons are still in-op, well kind of. I found if you want to skip a song u have to push and hold the play button on the head set for about a second let the button go and press it once to skip a song or twice to rewind. I kept reading the INSTRUCTIONS and eventually figured it out. after i downloaded 4.1 my head set worked great. so happy
The price was a bit steep, and especially for something that Apple should include from the start. But that's not this apps fault. The bottom line is that this app does exactly what it claims to do. I no longer have to change tracks by using the Itouch. I can go forward or backward using my Bluetooth headphones, and that's what I wanted to be able to do. Thanks!
