Base build recommendations and assistance

Personally I think this game is grand, there isn't much wrong with it if you are a real patient person. However there are some things I would like to point out: in the pvp you are often paired up against people who are up to 2 base levels ahead of you which is a very big difference in levels in this game. Some things are op like a rocket and heavy combo or tanks and medic combo, but it doesn't get as bad as any of the 1-2 star reviews say it does. They are most likely exaggerating. When you do get attacked you do lose a lot of resources but a big factor is the way you group your turrets. If you don't give a little space they can be torn down easily, but at the same time if you give them to much spacing your HQ will be lightly defended( which is the one thing you must absolutely protect). The easiest way to defend your base is to intertwine your standard buildings with your defenses and place you HQ towards the rear with ample defense around it. But like I said before don't clump your base together, give it some space because players can launch barrages from the gunboat they have and tear everything down easily. I recommend at Least 1 to 3 squares in between each of your buildings to prevent the barrages from doing damage to more than one building. As you play you will begin to understand what style of base defense is best by the players around you and the troops that are around your level.

A lot of fun if you don't rush your HQ.

I have played this game for a while now and I find it really enjoyable. I enjoy the fact that buildings don't take too long to upgrade so I can be constantly upgrading my defenses. Some advise for new players, Take Your Time! Don't rush your HQ because when you do you will constantly have to raid others to gather resources to upgrade your buildings. Whenever you attack you will gain VP(victory points) and be paired up with people way higher than you. I took my time and never attacked people. Now I am really enjoying the game because I am 10-20 levels above all of my opponents so no one is strong enough to attack me and take my resources. Being this strong and not having a lot of victory points this enabled me to always be in control of all of my resource bases, and have a constant revenue of resources combing into my base. So take my advise if you are reading this review. Take your time you don't need to rush your HQ just to get the better defenses. There are people with an HQ 2-3 levels higher than mine and all of their defenses are lower level than mine. So if you play the game right you will be able to control the game and play it how you want. So when I read all the comments about how the game is super unbalanced I just had to laugh at their foolishness. Over all I find that this is a great game and I would recommend it to anyone.

Pretty, but tedious and frustrating

The app game Boom Beach has become something of a curiosity for me. It's essentially a game of Level Up Until You Can Overwhelm Your Enemy with Sheer Numbers: nothing new, but it seems far more honest about it, brutally so even. The commercials are good enough to point out the fact, while making it out as a joke, rather than a defect in the game creators' frontal lobes. The graphics are nice, but you can only ooh and ahh about that for so long before you get bored of just waiting for your stuff to get built over a forty-eight hour period and leave to do something more fun, like get a Fireball liquor enema. All-in-all, got 1.5 total hours of enjoyment out of it and lost perhaps six more with nothing to show for it. Slightly addictive in the same sense as poking someone with toothpicks until you run out of toothpicks and have to run home and spend your lifesavings on more, only to find that you have become to undeserving recipient of incredibly lopsided vengeance from the person whom you hilariously thought you could inconvenience with your puny army of toothpick soldiers, smashing them against the fortress they paid for with fifty dollars of actual money. Also, they have an incredible amount of stuff that can only be bought with real life money, which I guess is put in to separate the people who care enough to spend money on the game and people who have lives/are smart. Two stars, not the worst app game I've ever gotten for free.
