Description

The first app that shows kids how to SEE and FEEL musical beats! Perfect for toddlers (ages 1-3). BoomKLAKers teaches toddlers to associate musical beats with movement, simply through Boom KLAK, Boom Boom KLAK. They'll be bouncing to the hiphop beat in no time!

Inspired by streetdance, martial arts and cirque acrobats, this app features monsters that dance and do back flips. The music is the most unique sound you will hear in a kids app, featuring 13 original tracks created by French beatboxer/musician Teddy Guilbaud. The monsters all live in their own special worlds so the seven-eyed monster is in stereo land while the blue dinosaur guards the blue crane.

BoomKLAKers shows kids how to FEEL the BEAT by associating musical beats with movement. This is one of the basic principles for understanding music and dance. Babies are born with this skill innately. If they learn to feel the beat, they can dance forever. It is a skill that stays with them their entire lives.

Features:

* Kids get to see ACTION/REACTION in real time

* Created by a choreographer/dancer Rosa Mei

Not as interactive as I'd hoped

shantismurf

My 3yo son is fascinated with music and sound, so this is a natural choice for him. I just downloaded and tested it myself and I was surprised that the only "interaction" was tapping a monster over and over as it bounced around the screen playing one beat of a song at a time, then a replay of the same song in tempo. The music is great and the interaction might be good for a very young child, but I can anticipate my boy wanting to make his own beats and mixes and feeling limited and quickly bored. Yesterday he spent a half hour scrubbing the progress bar back and forth on a video of him and his baby sister playing and squealing. He actually made some really cool sounding mixes. I would love to find an app at his level that let him really explore music that way! Everything is just a little below, like this, or just a bit beyond his level.

Ideal for the wee ones

MakeGrandmaHappy

I think this is a delightful little app for kids under 2. For that alone I will give it 3 stars. It's as simple as can be, tap the little creature wherever it pops up, while a funky back beat makes its movements into a dance. After 4-5 taps, the creature repeats its performance. Then a new creature pops up in a new environment.

I am only disappointed that the developers haven't gone further with this idea. I would love to see this app grow to allow subsequent age groups to do more with exploring and creating different types of rhythms with different sounds. I think there's great potential here for letting kids participate in making music and explore the power of the beat.

Simple and fun

Pepperlint

I'm pretty sure my 20-month-old thinks my iPad is called "Boom Klak" because that's what she says every time she sees it. This is the only game that she and my 3 year old will play together, which makes it a definite win in my book. The cause-effect concept is simple enough that even very little ones can play, while the anticipation of the upcoming dance keeps the preschooler interested. You will see my kiddos jamming to this app almost daily.
