The Bowflex Max Trainer app is designed for your Max Trainer M5 or M7 and is a great tool to help on your fitness journey as you watch the calories melt away. The Bowflex Max Trainer app also supports Apple’s Health app. The Health app lets you keep your fitness and health information in one easy to read dashboard. Now you can sync your Max Trainer workouts with Health and see your calories burned, workout data, and heart rate data in the Health dashboard.

Restarts always required, bad data

I was prompted to “upgrade” and install a new version of the app. So I did.

This new app NEVER syncs correctly. It always loses connection between workouts and will never recognize the machine again until I unplug and restart the machine.

Upon restarting the machine, it re-connects and always says it is syncing workouts “with bad data or dates”. <<— message received from machine.

This never happened on the previous app that it told me was no longer good.

Please fix this. I love the Bowflex M5 that I have and I’m getting great workouts with it. But this app is really bad.

Secondly, I would like to request a graph-range feature: allow for the week graph view to have a “weeks” view of more than just one week and allow for them to be cross months. How about adding a pinch-to-zoom feature to allow the days-weeks-months. This would help tremendously to see patterns flowing from one week to the next. From one month to the next.

UPDATE: not sure how to respond to the developer when the Developer Response doesn’t match the issues I’m having. What are you talking about “wrong date”?? The date is fine, the errors and messages and not Syncing is bad.

Hey QuarksBar (Is that a DS9 reference?), it sounds like there are two issues going on here.

The first is with syncing. The Max Trainer and Max Trainer app do not remain paired. When you launch the app or connect it to your machine, your workout data is exported to your mobile device and then the app disconnects. That being said, while you may infrequently need to power-cycle your machine to essentially "wake-up" the Bluetooth module within the machine, this is not something you should be having to do frequently/regularly.

With that in mind, we would be happy to go over your Max Trainer with you, determine if anything is going on there, and assist you accordingly. For assistance with this, what you'd want to do is contact our Customer Care department at 800-605-3369 while you're with the machine. They're open Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 5 PM Pacific. Once connected, let them know you have to repeatedly unplug the Max Trainer before you're able to successfully connect to it with our free app.

Regarding the error with bad data or dates, there could be corrupt workout data on your mobile device, the M5, or both. Even though you have updated the app recently, I'd recommend uninstalling the app, reinstalling it, and seeing if you continue to get any error messages.

If you continue to get errors, so we can address this for you further and specifically, please go to the Settings within the app and then find/use the "Send us an email" option. That will send information directly to our App team and they will typically follow up within 1-2 business days.

Otherwise, I do see that your suggestion regarding adding different ways to view your workout results was sent along previously. We're always collecting feedback and suggestions and trying to implement them with each successive update, but I know that viewing results specifically is something we're looking in to so hopefully it's something we see expanded upon soon.

Works great

I recently purchased an M5. I plugged the machine in and opened the app. Set myself as user 1. It did not sync the fitness test. I did the fat burn preset workout and afterwords pressed the sync button and it worked fine. I added user 2 and it synced their workout as well with no issues.

If you’re having issues after the workout is complete open the app and press the sync button it will sync the workout it doesn’t do it automatically. Also unplug the machine when it’s not in use. It’s not meant to be powered up all the time. I unplug mine completely.

Hey dsf613, thanks for the feedback! The Fitness Test does not currently sync to the app. It's something that I know is on the radar though! As to syncing, I generally recommend waiting to launch the app until after a workout is done unless you're using other app features during the workout. Workouts don’t sync

Wish this app was better. Half the time the workout I just completed won’t sync to the app. No new workouts found is a little frustrating when I’m still sweating from the workout! I thought I might need to wait a few minutes.....Nope. Still no new workout. So I was even more patient and waited an hour.....Nope. This has happened every other time I’ve tried syncing the workout. I made sure that I was on the correct user, don’t know what else to do. Please fix it! It would be so useful if it worked the way I’m sure it was designed to.

Hello - We are very sorry to hear your machine is not uploading new workouts. In addition to making sure the app and the Max Trainer are both set to the same user, you will also want to make sure the Max Trainer is on the WELCOME or GET READY screen. If the workout still does not upload, please send an email to the app support team through the app so that they can look into this further.
