Using technology developed for our Chord Detector app. BPM detector is a smart app designed for calculating the BPM (Beats Per Minute) of tracks in your iPod music library or by listening to tracks playing around you.
Just hit the iPod button within the BPM Detector app and select a track from your music library. BPM detector will then analyse the track and calculate the BPM.
Alternatively you can hit the microphone button within the BPM detector app and it will listen to whatever is playing around you and calculate its BPM.
The detected BPM can be adjusted using the manual adjustment wheel.

minor bug fixes + iOS 6 support
Worked for Me
I don't know why there are so many reviews saying that this doesn't work. I tested it by running a sequencer through various synths and a drum machine. I tried a number of combinations and it was always accurate to within 0.1 BPM. I'd give the 6 stars if I could just to offset some of the 1 star reviews.
Doesn't work at all...
I used it listening to external songs. Tried on 20 different songs from different genres. Not accurate on 1. I get a bpm from release, mixmeister, then Virtual Dj, so we have an accurate start point. It was not only way off but would give me different reads on the same song if I ran it 3 times. Horrible accuracy, how did they test this?
I saw the comments and decided to test it out.
Well it worked fine. I had the app check a song 3 times at the same time stamp every time. There was only once a 2 BPM deference.
People should also consider that if u are not in a quiet place, the app will consider any random loud noise as a BPM.
I'm not a developer, just someone looking for a BPM app for a check on a song
