Braille Writer lets you translate between Braille and Standard (Latin based script).
It helps people around the world to communicate with people with visual disabilities.
The app is a great tool for learning and teaching braille.

Use a custom made Braille keyboard to convert text as you type. Switch the key cap symbols between Braille and Standard to be able to translate text both ways.

Convert text by copying and pasting a piece of text into the app. It will and populate the app text fields.

Once you are ready with your text, you can export it as a TXT, PDF or RTF file and save it to iOS Files or send it to another app.

The app includes a Braille keyboard extension - Braille keyboard that you can use in any app.
To enable it, Go to:
iOS Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> Keyboards -> Add New Keyboard…

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about the app, please contact the developer by going to or on Twitter @BrailleApp.

Braille keyboard, PDF/RTF

Hi. Kak vashi dila?

Nice app, but unfortunately, I do not know how to get the Braille keyboard option to type with in-app, nor do I know how to export to PDF/RTF.

If you would kindly inform me how, it'd (the app) be worth five stars. I teach English, ASL, and Braille, so such is quite necessary for my work.

Thank you! Спасибо!

*In order to get the option to type in Braille, one must tap in the top half of the page (the top half of the text box where the Braille appears), then the Braille keyboard option will appear in the lower right-hand corner of the QWRTY keyboard.

As for PDF/RTF, Apple Notes supports it, I was able to find out, but please add the things in the description. Nonetheless, I was able to find out without waiting a long time, less than ten - twenty minutes of app usage. If not in the description of the app, perhaps add such to the "Help" option in the app itself about how to use the Braille keyboard. I hope this app is successful for you. The money is worth it. If in a future update, add Hebrew and/or Russian Braille keyboards? Again, thank you! !תודה Спасибо! May you be blessed.

Braille is for people who are completely or somewhat blind. I don't know how this app would even work because you don't read braille, you FEEL braille. You can't do it with an iPad. If this is supposed to work with a printer, besides the email, you can't export it to a braille printing computer. I don't know what the app developers are thinking, because none of this makes sense to me. Otherwise, this app works okay except for the fact that it doesn't have QWERTY keyboard. It is functional, though it doesn't do anything.

Best App I've Ever Bought!

For the longest time I've always been interested in braille reading and writing. I found this app and decided to give it a shot; I'm glad I did. I love it! And the best part of it is that you can copy what you write & paste it to a status, message etc. and NONE of my friends know what it says. Again, I love this app!
