Ratings and Reviews
Never Disappointing — Still listening 7 years later!
I’ve been listening to the Brain Science Podcast since 2008. I was a student of neuropsychology in the 80’s, but got involved in clinical practice… and the years passed quickly. Finding this podcast has kept me informed about the unfolding, and always exciting, field of neuroscience. I am grateful to Dr. Campbell for being willing to commit herself to this work. Each episode is extremely informative - the issues, the facts, etc., are always more important that the personalities involved, but Dr. Campbell does have a knack for bringing out the best in her interviewees. What is perhaps most valuable about each episode, is that I am not required to “get more information” in order to feel that I’ve really learned something important. Her review of books, her interviews, etc., really nail the most critical information for each source. However, I am often inspired to do some investigating on my own after listening.
Excellent podcast... App needs bookmark function
The Brain Science Podcast is a very high quality science podcast and having it's own iPhone app really helps, plus, it's a good way to support Dr. Campbell for her great work. The software version update for the app did improve things. However, one key element is missing: the ability to bookmark. With each episode about an hour long, interruptions are inevitable. Currently, the only option is where the app asks to resume where the software closed. However, this does not work all the time, and several times will just go back to the beginning. Having an option for bookmarks is dearly needed, with the option to have multiple bookmarks across different episodes. (The implementation of podcast bookmarks is done very well, for e.g. in the iPhone app: Stitcher Radio). The content for the Brain Science podcast is excellent and highly recommended, using this app as a portal to get to their webpage which has a wealth of information including book references.
Cool App for BSP lovers
Its the only app I own and well worth the $5.00 as an expression of support of the BSP. App allows you to read the transcripts -- turning your iphone into a mini-kindle of sorts. App allows one easy access to all the episodes, website, twitter and a nice 'backround play' feature so that you can listen to the BSP as you are doing other things. I just wish that the wallpaper included the blue neuron that is the logo of the BSP. However, if you are internet savvy enough, one can get this image to serve as one's wallpaper. If you love and are nurtured by the BSP purchasing this app is a great way to show support-- plus, when you are at boring cocktail party, you can spicen things up by showing off using the backround play feature to move people into a more stimulating discussion. Or, if you are so bold, play your favorite epidose using "speaker" and watch the magic happen.
